And what would that solve? All season our marketing department have banged the drum for #onetown or #onefax. Surely this should also include FCHT who are part of our town and indeed our stadium. Yes the relationship between the two clubs and sets of fans in't the best, but as ha already been shown, there are plenty who support both. FCHT are doing fantastically well, and a successful Football club can only be good for the Town and therefore the Rugby club, I'm sure this would be the case if it was the other way round too. For the past 16 years there have been bickering between the two sides, some justified, some just petty and childish. It's the same with other sharing clubs I bet, Wigan, Hull for example. However we've shown that when we do come together as 'one town' we can make great things happen. The night we marched from the Shay to Town Hall to protest about the running of the Shay, when the Shaymen got to the play-off final at Leicester and when we've got to Grand/NRC Finals, there have been plenty of the other sport's fans cheering for a HALIFAX team. There will always be banter between the two sets of supporters as there is between Football and Rugby generally, but I feel we just need to move on from the 'they said this so we should do that' mentality and the silly Chinese whispers environment of the rent situation and the purchase of the Shay. I'm not a Football fan really and I don't go and watch FCHT but I always look out for their results and want them to do well because I support HALIFAX. I think it's time we drew a line, both sides showed a bit more transparency and we move on together to success on and off the field and success of our Town. |
