Great time mate, thanks.
As for this thread...nobody ever assumed it was ALL Tony Abbott’s doing. In fact, from very early days it was known that Mr Abbott’s interest initially began with the South/East annexe before then been invited to make an offer for the Shay estate as a whole. All the FOI response did was confirm what we already knew and all the Courier article is doing is putting right their rather inept article from the week before.
How have the HRLFC directors been cleared of any underhand dealing? There was a deal to sell the Shay for a pittance being negotiated in secret (underhand) which did not offer good value for the local tax payer and was not in the best interests of ‘our’ clubs for the long term. The fact that Aiden Jewitt proposed a share in profits should Reactiv sell the stadium for development is just one example.
Your man (and many of his followers on here who believed they were in the know) were adamant that the deal was done and took great delight in thinking so - I remember fondly the childlike giddiness of some. All this was done without any consideration for the football club yet Neil earlier in this thread naively says “one town, two clubs”.
Michael Steele said in the Courier that he knew nothing of any deal yet the FOI responses prove otherwise.
Mr Abbott’s claim at the public meeting in the East Stand that he was in no way connected to Pay Day Loan companies was proven to be incorrect. The Council have their own policy of not dealing with such companies!
The rent issue has been a total farce. Being locked out of the stadium for not paying rent for over a year is quite embarrassing. Firstly Mr Abbott was apparently hoping to tie the rent into his deal to buy the Shay so was refusing to pay a tactic to try force the Council’s hand or purely because the club was skint? Once the deal was a no go thanks to the ACV it still went unpaid for a few months until the CMBC finally grew some balls and got tougher with the club.
We then had Mr Steele in the Courier saying the level of rent Fax were paying was unfair due to the greater use of the Shay facilities FCHT has, yet once again this was proven to be disingenuous by a further FOI response.
The football club have kept their own counsel pretty much throughout all of this even though both messrs Abbott and Steele have tried to drag them into it. In fact I think the FCHT board have spoken only once about the whole affair and that was after Tony Abbott had made false claims.
Take the rose tinted spectacles off and you will see what a total shambles the whole thing has been from start to finish. The Council, Fax, Reactiv and yes, on occasions, certain quarters from both sets of supporters (me included). Yet to say you can keep your dignity and hold the moral high ground is almost as hilarious as the giddiness some of you had over a year ago before the Luddites triumphed for the town.
