We need to boycott the bars and burger van at the Shay as the cheeky sods put the prices up for the Bradford and Hull KR games apparently lets hurt them where it hurts most, in their pocket then maybe they will work with the two clubs.
I asked if the club could strike a deal to get a percentage of the bar takings when it hits a certain amount but the people who run them are just not interested.
BOYCOTT them now!

Sounds cautious but positive. I think the fact that they are trying to get income streams under some control of the club is important. It's a nonsense that Football and rugby don't receive a cut of the bar sales . The bottom line is that the more successful the clubs are the more they should receive from income streams be it club merchandise or whatever. Well done to the supporters trust yet again with their donation.

I don't buy food at games (I think I succumbed to buying a tray of chips for my lad about 10 years ago), and the last beer I bought on the terraces was at "that" Challenge cup game at Wheldon Road. As a fortunate guest for dining at the Shay, I've bought a couple of drinks, but as I'm always driving it's been very limited.

As the clubs get nowt from the franchises, we should all keep our hard-earned in our pockets.

I used to have a couple of pints, and the kids would have some food, I reckon if there is no support for the team then my support should be withdrawn. Saying that I guess the vendors are paying the council so need to maximise their returns. Would the Club be able to run the food and bars themselves?

I assume both clubs must make something from having the dining room full on a match day else neither club would push the match day packages.

It was always going to be a problem outsourcing the food and drink as it just creates another stakeholder wanting a cut of the profits. You have the council who want their share for providing the facilities. You have the clubs who want their share for providing the custom and then obviously the provider wants their profit.

Probably the best solution would be for the two clubs to create a joint venture which managed the food/drink within the stadium. This would ensure the council got their share and then any surplus went into the two clubs. But history suggest this wont happen, and if it did, it wouldnt end well.

Agreed Bubba ref the stadium issues. The history spoils what should be for the best of all parties and that includes the Council. Common sense would say that the senior management of all key stakeholders to the Shay need to sit down and talk to establish working relationships for the future as a condition of the Licence agreement. It may stop everyone going around in circles and Calderdale rate payers at least better satisfied in the Councils governance arrangements of the Shay stadium. The deals are not necessarily bad , it's the lack of open direct communication between parties that makes it all so much harder to resolve issues. All parties have areas they could currently improve. It's certainly not all the Councils fault but they are in a position to change it.

Ive said for ages that the 2 teams at the shay would have more power if they were working together although it seems that may never happen with the people currently in charge of Town. Together they could put a lot more pressure on the council to get better deals as it is I think both teams should explore other avenues whether that is pop up bars or some other idea that will bring revenue in to the clubs rather than the council.

The best idea in my eyes would have been for both clubs to purchase the Shay Hotel and make sure that all fans went there before games but obviously its far too late for this now.

Fax TV is a strange one and looked destine to fail as the set up seemed wrong from the start and people were just not buying in to it, when compared to Leigh TV which was on a totally different level and should have been the benchmark.

It sounds like good news on the team front and hopefully a few of the possible leavers will now be persuaded to stay and it really only needs a couple of good quality additions to challenge for the top 4 again next season. No need to go mad like last season when we can bring some quality in on loan and DR like we have done this season to pad out the squad.

GFB. You obviously have some insight into the club and are a passionate and loyal supporter. One question. On the basis of this season why on earth would we want to continue with DR? Just look at our run in. Go to Swinton with four DR players and lose. Play all our top three rivals, two away, no DR players and win all three. It's not rocket science is it?
