The former. How many people decide on day whether to attend too ? many of my friends/kids do.Not everyone can commit in advance, particularly the floaters.

Re: Challenge Cup : Thu Mar 15, 2018 1:38 pm
I can't see any scenario where the club deliberately thinks "Lets see if we can put fans off by doing this or that."

Pricing is always difficult to get right, keep it low and we may not be able to make ends meet as it does not seem to attract a telling crowd increase, put it up and we may not be able to get the numbers through the gates and we may not be able to make ends meet.

I suppose it will come down each individual regarding when and what they are prepared to or can afford to pay with differing opinions across the board.

Thinking of the "board" someone has to make the decisions the hard ones included and I wouldn't be on the board of a rugby club for the proverbial gold pig.

Cup games are usually 'Pay on the gate', even at some big footy stadiums. The directors have dropped a big bollock with this. Especially with the obscene £5 increase on the day. Its grossly unfair on a lot of the older folk who won't be aware of this till they get a shock at the turnstiles. These are the loyal fans that have been there through the good and the bad times.
£17/£12/£5 would have been acceptable.

Totally agree, albeit £15/£10/£1 could be considered fairer.Saw people queuing outside shop after Leigh to buy tickets a week in advance of a game not certain to go ahead and if does a crowd of 800 with 60% of ground shut-utter nonsense.

On the other hand they could have decided not to give any reduction option, eg, early bird and just said as usuall it’s just pay on the day at the higher price because without the increase we won’t be able to balance the books or compete.

As I said before it’s never easy to get the pricing right and you won’t please everybody although they he fact that there was a queue for the tickets on Sunday many are taking it up.

We either trust the BOD who know what the clubs finances are or we don’t and think we know better with our limited knowledge.

Not disagreeing, but the people queuing up last week would be going anyway and just saving the fiver.

I view it as a positive move and caters for most, if you are a bit strapped for cash or want to save a fiver the chance is there and doing it the home game before people don’t even have to go back out.
I have not used the option yet and paid the full price on the day and just viewed it as a chance to donate a bit to help the club.

True but Fax have done this for all home games so far not just the cup.

As I see it a new BOD comes in and has a look at the finances, as you know there are only so many income streams and they need to balance the books trying to remain competitive but not overspend and get into debt, not easy when some of your rivals have more money.
Regarding admission prices they see that there hasn't been an increase for sometime but realise that to put the prices up may not go down well.
The solution, increase the pay on the day which gets more revenue from those that pay that way and give an early bird option for those that want the lower prices.
It goes as far as is reasonably possible to get the best out of one of the income streams without rocking the boat too much, seems like a responsible, up to date compromise to me.
