Oh really. 3% that's your argument?

It doesn't hold water anyway. What exactly are you basing that on? The average weekly attendances of the two clubs? What about the bigger crowds that turn up for the bigger games? What about the functions at The Shay? What about the 5-a-side pitch, the kids who play tournaments and finals on the pitch? The Staff at The Shay, both employed by the two clubs and the council? All people who have an interest in some form.

How many are regulars are there or those who might only use it once a year, for example?

I would class atleast once a month as regular. The Calderdale population is just over 200,000.
3% of 200,000 = 6,000. I very much doubt 6,000 people who live in Calderdale have been to the Shay since january 1st except for maybe yesterday. Even for people who do follow Fax/Town, many dont live in Calderdale. I know a number of Fax fans that live in Kirklees, Bradford/Keighley, Leeds, Lancashire/Manchester etc. I very much doubt that more than a couple of hundred people who live in Calderdale have played at the 5 a side in 2013. And its highly unlikely thousand of locals have been to The Shay for a function in the past couple of months. And what amateur finals have been played at The Shay in 2013?

Now how does this compare to the library, for example, which cost 8x as much to run? How many people use that regularly or in any capacity at all? What potential does it have, especially in today's digital age?

The library is used by schools tohelp them learn to read and it also holds local public archives. Also the internet as well as other facilities are available at the library. It serves a far wider part of the community than what you may think. The library also hosts many help and support groups. But luddites like yourself ignore this.

What about the swimming baths?
Your blind selfishness helps you to ignore the important role that swimming baths have. Many Schools get kids their and help them learn to swim. Something that may save their lives one day. How can you put a price on that? The Swimming baths are more than just a swimming pool but offer other sporting facilities and are again used by many people from Schools to elderly groups to pregnancy groups. But just ignore the important role they play as clearly Halifax Town are far more important!

Or theatre?

The Theatre has hosted many events and caters for people from all backgrounds. From Music concerts to comedians to pantomimes. The theatre offers many things to the local population and its typical of luddites to fail to see what the Victoria Theatre offers.

It's nothing but a lame attempt to try to explain how the 'future' lies in the hands of your god and saviour; the deceitful spin doctor. Let him get it on the cheap, mortgage it, set up a bunch of businesses and cross our fingers. If it all goes wrong then the club's are fecked but TA has a massive asset to fall back on. Brilliant.

But you don't need to worry because FCHT fans will always do what's best for the stadium and therefore your club.
[/quote]

As usual you luddites like to think you know everything even what Fax fans think. I dont know of one Fax fan who has said that TA should take over The Shay without certain conditions being met. Many like myself would have liked a bit more info. Its clear the shay under the Council will get along with the bare minimum invested. The Shay already has a very old stand which is falling quickly into mess. 2 stands have capacity reduced. The Shay needs outside investment for it to be a modern stadium and have modern facilities so that far more people as currently to use it for far more different reasons. Its only the short sighted and blind luddites that fail to see this. Town fans will never do whats best for the Stadium only for their small backwards thoughts and are happy to live in the past in a fast decaying stadium.

The football club put money into the three new stands, the rugby didn't. The rugby also owe £52,000 in rent. That contribution would help with maintenance and put the capacity of the Skircoat and North Stand up immediately.

Sorry that just reads as one massive cry and whinge, Abbott lover.

The bits about apologising to people for not creating jobs, not paying their rent (bit rich), deeply affecting people's lives - it's all priceless.

TA and Halifax RLFC - the shining beacon of hope for the masses of unemployed cruelly stopped in their tracks by the evil FCHT fans.

Yes that's what this was all about. Not about the security of the club's, which I won't deny is the number one over-riding issue for Town fans and should be for any HRLFC fan who doesn't hate their club. Since when did FCHT or HRLFC have a duty to the unemployed? Why does TA need to own the stadium to create jobs ("Yeah I know - he wants to build an extension on his house").

Your paranoid spouting of political nonsense only serves to prove why the FCHT fans were the only one's thinking straight and doing the right thing for the future of the two clubs.

Funny how quick you are to resort to (very poor) insults whilst chastising the football fans behaviour at every given opportunity.

Still, that goes back to the whole hypocrisy thing doesn't it?!!

Don't worry, the next time The Shay and YOUR club is in danger we will do what it takes to protect them, including marching on the town hall again if necessary. I promise you that 1000000000000000000%.

:SHHH: :SHHH: :SHHH: :SHHH: :SHHH: :SHHH: :SHHH: :SHHH: :SHHH:

Did you say WE as in the march on the Town Hall was just Halifax Town fans?
That just shows how one eyed you are as I was in that march along with hundreds of Town AND Fax fans it was a joint effort.
As for selling the Shay was illegal er wrong a senior Council Officer does actually have the power to sell the Shay but this option has not been chosen to make sure the politicians get their say which will go through the right procedures which does not mean that either FC Halifax Town or Halifax RLFC actually have to have a say as they are tenants but will be consulted anyway I am sure.

Still, you lot are no strangers to hypocrisy.

Absolute child read my WORDS I do not worship Tony Abbott he is a businessman who has a plan for developing the Shay but as I have said before this we can only believe if he produces the goods as in he passes all the necessary due diligence if the Council go down that road which they may be forced to yet as the local population who pay Council tax may have a say as it is losing money FACT.

'Fax fan in Stockport: The jewel in the ring of Manchester

Re: council statement. : Mon Nov 11, 2013 9:44 pm
There's a few twitter accounts which are absolutely obsessed with the rugby hating. Massive confusion surrounds their perception of the Tony Abbott/Halifax RLFC entities. When you strip away the depth to their ramblings (we're talking about a head's worth of a pint of London Ale here) what's basically happened is that Halifax RLFC have put a bid in to buy The Shay. That's it. When you strip away the venom and the froth; that's the size of it. You will NEVER reason with that kind of mentality, no matter how many pages these threads create.

And the ultimate irony - whilst others congratulate Calderdale Council for their efforts leading up to this weekend the idiot Town fans are too busy slagging Tony Abbott off.

Rabid Neanderthals.

Ah the Irony of, yes you guessed it, this being posted from behind a keyboard.

The point was instead of repeating over and over again the same arguments on forums like these from behind a keyboard that does nothing to solve the issues.

If it is that important surely it's better to channel the effort where it really matters, out in the open with the powers that be.

Lets all come out from behind the keyboard and ask the Council to start a petition or poll of some kind with the population of Calderdale to see what the consensus is regarding the Shay.

Being a community assett let everybody in the community decide what is best for it and them.
If some of the community can't be bothered to get involved well at least they were asked and the majority can have their say.

Again it's the Council who hold the cards not Town or Fax fans and if we really want to put pressure on the Council what better way to do it, if public opinion is strong enough against the sale then the chances of them selling it become less, but it may work the other way round.

It's not the case as you claim that Fax fans automatically think because it's TA involved it must be for the good, far from it, there are loads of questions.

What exactly will the terms of any sale be?

If it is sold is it possible to legally ensure that the Shay must stay a sporting stadium that can't be revoked or are these legal ties not really worth the paper the are written on?

If the purchaser gets in to financial trouble or has an accident of somekind at a later date what will be in place then to keep it as a sporting venue?

Etc, etc.

At the moment they are considering the options, so during that time.

We want and have a right to answers from them that are clear and address the key issues and are put in print then there can be no arguments or misunderstandings.

I'll sign on, will you?

Check your facts.

How much did the club put in?

If your rent as paid the council would be able to put that money into the Shay.
