Dual Registration has never existed to help the lower division team, it was not created for that purpose and it can never be modified to fulfil that purpose. It exists to allow SL teams to save money and develop their youngsters elsewhere. When you find yourself believing that RM will be able to pick and choose the players ask yourself this; what is in it for Hull KR, they will be paying Netherton's wages and I suspect a fee to ourselves. Why would they agree to a partnership on our terms. They have been behind other SL teams in youth development and are desperately playing catch up.

Getting relegated is bad, giving up on your future is worse. We were a club looking to regain our place amongst the elite. We are now a club looking to help Hull KR better their place amongst the elite. Look at it with whatever rose coloured glasses you want to, it is fact. A Hull KR reserve/feeder club loosing to Cawoods would not be so embarrassing. We are now exactly that. I couldn't care less who I insult as they have insulted the history of this club. They have made a big song and dance over the last several years about being refused a franchise, how pathetic and foolish does that look now. Working hard and giving up your spare time is rendered worthless if you make the wrong decisions.

As a Hull KR fan I assure you that we fully appreciate the proud and illustrious history of Halifax RLFC. We see this as a massive plus for us, that is the measure of how much we rate your club

We want this relationship to be mutually beneficial and the starting point has to be that Halifax decide who they want and when. We accept that. Good luck for 2015.

Thanks for those kind words your bobness.

Just because other clubs have fooked up DR doesn't mean that Fax and KR have to make the same mistakes. At a Board, coaching and playing level I'm certain there will be that mutual respect of our 2 famous clubs (nobody's mentioned the impact on Gateshead here). The game for the moment is contracting year by year and becoming less relevant nationally.....we need to work smarter and harder.

Both clubs cant really afford the hassle of not managing this correctly. Richard and Chris Chester will have the luxury of having an open door to each other's offices and more importantly TRUST each other. Remember this is a two way arrangement.

Selling out, losing its soul for Christ sake get a grip far worst things have followed this club if your trying to take the moral high ground.

After the last 3 months the Board deserve some respect and a chance, they have done brilliantly to get us to where we are today. Let's focus our ire on winning matches, supporting Richard and the players and turning over that lot who play in that RFL owned hole in the ground.

If it goes t1ts up well more the pity but they'll still be a Halifax RLFC and Hull Kingston Rovers and I'll be the first to make an appointment with Mrs Maurice. :MOON:

I feel certain many doubters over the depth of Rovers squad will be surprised by the likes of Marsh, Robinson, Hallett and in particular Ollett and Esslemont if your coach takes any of these on-board.

I also feel sure Chester will want to see all of these gaining game time because they are ALL knocking on his door for first grade rugby.

And I wouldn't discard lightly Rovers centres Salter and Welham who are vying for first team spots behind Goulding and Blair.

If you get the services of any of these players then you will be best served.

TBH I am not a supporter of DR but having witnessed how the link with Gateshead went I didn't see any of the exploitation that is often associated with the system. In fact, it worked in favour of Gateshead getting them to the play-offs and then signing a couple of Rovers players. I feel sure Rovers Board and coaching staff will want to establish a similar system, and if so then it should be beneficial for both clubs.

Re: Hull KR Partnership : Mon Dec 22, 2014 1:04 pm
Having confirmed his retirement from playing, former Rovers player Jason Netherton will take on a role of Partnership Liaison Officer as part of this link-up. One of his responsibilities will be to increase levels of participation in rugby league in Hull, Halifax and the North East
Off the field, there will be a joint scouting network between schools and amateur clubs in each location, with young players given an opportunity to gain a contract at their relevant level.

Would still love to hear from anybody why we need to go into Partnership with Hull KR about this area. I dont like DRs but can accept it to a point. But why do we need to help HKR scouting our area for youngsters? The work Luke and Frank do in the Schools is and has been successful. So why does Jason Netherton need to be involved when he has little idea or experience especially in the halifax area. Have the amateur clubs agreed for this help and in what way? If somebody could answer this then this would be good.

You keep saying the same thing albeit in slightly different ways. Members of this Forum cannot give you those answers. Only your club, either the BoD or coach can. They must see a benefit or presumably they would not have included it in the Partnership. Ask them and when you have their reason(s) then you can say whether you agree or disagree.

Interesting thread this and it has some good posts from all sides of the argument.

I don’t think going dual reg is your lowest point by a long chalk. Cawoods has that dubious honour. Speaking as a Bulls fan I also know that getting the begging buckets out is down there too.

I think it’s a shame you’ve gone down the duel reg route but I expect it’s to do with money rather than any other reasons. If you could afford not to do it you would. Faced with the financials I bet there wasn’t much option. The problem is that it once you’ve dumped your reserve team or academy it’s very difficult to find the money to start it again. Making savings in this way raises a lot of issues and can put a lot of fans off as they see it as becoming a “feeder club”. I can totally see that point of view. Likewise I can see the pragmatic viewpoint too but it’s not as convincing IMO.

What I would say is that I hope your club has a plan whereby this arrangement isn’t going to be long term – if they have then that might placate some people. Dual reg may even turn out to be a success for you but I wouldn’t expect it to be much different to many other arrangements of this type.

If there is no struggle, there is no progress. Those who profess to favor freedom, and yet depreciate agitation, are men who want crops without plowing up the ground. They want rain without thunder and lightning. They want the ocean without the awful roar of its many waters. This struggle may be a moral one; or it may be a physical one; or it may be both moral and physical; but it must be a struggle.

Straight up I'm a Rovers fan.

We're not a rich club as you all know but our owner, Neil Hudgell definitely believes in TGG.

I'd be surprised if we were looking to shaft you on this.

I've not seen much chat about how you might benefit from the link with Gateshead. They have PNG players Mexico, Wabo (who you will know from Hunslet) and possibly of more interest, Lo who could really be something. They also have Beharrell and Sheriff who were pretty near and I think should have been given the opportunity to stay with us.

You will likely get Welham (who is not a development project for us but who should do well in The Championship) and maybe Salter.

I have to admit, I haven't followed The Championship anywhere near as well as I should over the last few years but in some of our youngsters such as Hallett, Essellmont and Gudzek we may be able to compliment your squad.

I'm more than prepared for you guys to pick holes in this and I have the utmost respect for your club, I live locally to Fax and might get along to the occasional game.

Losing to Cawoods, almost getting relegated AGAIN in 2004, Going cap in hand to RL fans with a bucket appeal; there's far far far worse things have happened than yesterday's announcement. Personally I don't like it. Personally I think it will fizzle out with a whimper after having little or no effect on our overall performance in the next couple of years. For Nat to say that this is the LOWEST point in our 140 year history is THE most ridiculous statement I've ever read. Either he's being a pantomime drama queen or he has no idea of our history whatsoever.

I have no problem at all with people's distaste for this and if people choose to stay away because of it then that's their business. It's their money, it's their choice but when people are making daft statements like the one Nat made then I believe it does a great injustice to those working hard behind the scenes - for nothing, giving up their free time. To say that all this, and what these people are trying to do is the lowest point in our entire history is a complete insult - in my opinion.

Good post the thing Fax fans have to accept is that we get a QUARTER of the RL money that Bradford and London get which is £800K, Leigh get £500K and Fev £450K while we get £200k so how do we think our club can compete with that?
Its like Burnley FC trying to compete with Chelsea or Man City in football in reality we are miles behind the other clubs financially, we must try all ways open to us to compete with them as well as Fev and Sheffield who I still see as our main threat to get that 4th spot which if we get it we get into the 'spin dryer' league which will generate more money as we will be playing 4 SL clubs as well as the other top 4 teams and we get a much bigger slice of RL mo ney for 2016 which we can then use to build on an even better team and I think then go for top spot in 2016!

As if.
