| I personally think Cas' home support is excellent, i've no idea what the population of cas is but for a small town the crowd they get are very good. Plus they travel to away games in good numbers.
Saturdays gate was more to do with it being an all pay game, it'll be almost a sell out down the jungle this weekend when the whinos come to town.

| Quote Starbug="Starbug"1 st they play to a different set of Franchise rules to the likes of us and you dont they
Sooner or later if they cannot build support they will go out of business unless they find another sugar daddy willing to throw away millions
Any heartland club needs to get to a similar support base as Cas to be able to survive both in the Championship and SL without ' extra ' investment'"
Remember years ago Howard Posner saying that you needed 10,000 fans at a match to sustain a Super League side and for every 1,000 people below that you have to have someone puting £100,000 in.He assured me this was correct .

Cas have always done well for crowds, but they have little competition. There's no decent local Football Side (many locals support Leeds) and its an amateur RL Hotbed so plenty of interests of all ages, plus traditional local rivalys with Fev and Wakefield add to the interest.

That obviously depends on a clubs outgoings though. Salford, Celtic, Wakey, Harlequins and plenty more won't get anywhere near a 10,000 average crowd this year or any year for that matter. But they could be saving money in other areas and bringing money in from other areas.

I'd imagine Salford make a lot of money from The Willows. Not the actual ground but the Clubhouse as its used for all sorts of functions.

How many would you draw for a match against Dewsbury Oldham or Hunslet if everybody was paying ?
Attendances for one off games are not relevant to potential SL averages'"
Good point. Tony Fax might like to check out Cas' attendances (averaging nearly 6000) in their two NL1 seasons before further embarrassing himself with snide references to 'hard core' support.

You could argue the same for Halifax.
The Football team has fallen to a much much lower league and how many amateur sides are in and around Halifax and the Calderdale area.

But there is a stronger sense in cas you wouldn't dare be a Fev or Wakey fan, and Vice Versa. In Halifax (and Huddersfield, Keighley ect) you often see people in Bulls or Leeds Shirts. yet you don't see many people walking through Fev in Cas or Wakefield Shirts.

Could, but the football team has only recently dropped to the depths it is at. And they never got massive crowds anyway. I don't think the people of Halifax are too bothered about sport to be honest.
