I agree MM. To actually have a vote about whether someone should lose their job is quite shameful. Fair enough, pass comment if you think MC has taken the club as far as he can but to take it one step further and have a poll is in poor taste.
Yeah Gav I agree. OK, I go with the discussions about being in the entertainment business & also about a results based/performance related earnings, but this guy Calland took a pay cut for being the GF champion winner, some people have very short memories when it suits them.
What a pointless thread this is.... I wasn't going to pass comment on this poll until I read some if the utter garbage & personal insults aimed at individuals on the club's board of directors, absolutely shameful. I know a couple of these gentleman rather well and totally admire the work they've put into resurecting our club from some of the disasters that have been part of our history in not many years gone by. I wouldn't blame them if they locked their office doors one day and never came back to face this sort of abuse. Tony Gartland & his family didn't have to put up with it and he voted with his feet, I hope this doesn't happen again.
To be fair I don't think there has any personal insults against members of the board, in fact most have said that they have the utmost respect for them, there isn't even personal insults toward Calland, more questioning his coaching ability.
I think perhaps a poll is a bit too far, but come on MM you can't honestly say you are happy with what you are watching week in week out?
Apart from the obvious relegation potential, the other worry is what it is doing to the crowd figures.
As bad as the bulls are playing I fear a cricket score on national TV.

I don't watch "week in, week out" I very rarely go to away games nowadays & missed the Leigh game at home the other week cos I have interest in junior RL which interferes with kick off times on sunday afternoons, I also work shifts so miss occassional evening matches. I also feel we'll get whacked next weekend but bought a ticket anyway. I'd like to know how people can jusdge a coach when they're not present at training sessions, maybe some players have got loose tongues, maybe some of us listen to too many rumours, who knows ? All I do know is, some of the players aren't putting the effort in, in my opinion. I heard the Fax fans getting onto the ref yesterday but I thought he had a good game & I understand the penalty count went 8-6 in our favour, so hey, guess what, we've got a fairly disciplined side giving away a penalty every 13-14 mins on average compared to Barrow who averaged one evvery 10 mins. I just feel there's an awful lot of desperation amongst us all at the moment. The B.O.D. Matt & the players will be feeling it but the difference is, they can do something about it, the only thing we as speccies can do is attempt to lift our team. If it wasn't for the Barrow fans making some noise yesterday the south stand would have been like a morgue.

There is a key word in that last paragraph which is making threads like this happen...
Hope without planning is about as futile as waiting for a harvest without planting

The problem MM is if you buy a Marillion track that's out of sinc. Do you A-say never mind, spend money, buy another hopeing that that will be ok? After the second one's the same as the first,or B-not going to get stung again for that crap. I know what a lot of fans would do and looking at the crowd, are doing. I like a lot of fans can stand the team to lose, but it's the way we're loseing that worries me.

and, of course cassandra, MM has already said he is one who doesn't go week in week out, and thereby lies one if the problems. The club has to bring back fans who don't go week in week out, but when the team plays like this its never going to happen.

This is primarily one of the reasons why I didn't purchase a season ticket because I knew that I couldn't commit to attending, also the tv company re-arranges playing times/dates otherwise I'd have bitten the bullet and got one. People really do have other things to do especially on bank holly weekends, but I drove past Odsal at 1pm yesterday on the way back from the airport and there were loads of fans of both teams milling around even so early, OK the U/20's were playing a curtain raiser, now they're not exactly in a rich vein of form at the moment but drew in 14K !!! I understand there were a lot of walkers before even halt time but 14K is some crowd whether we like it or not.

Haven't 11k bought season tickets at something like £65.00 for the saeson. Thats equal to the cost of 4 visits to the South Stand

I guess people pay their money and feel they are entitled to an opinion. Most people will judge a coach on results and development of players and on both fronts are we seeing improvements?
Another thing the speccies can do is try and influence the sacking of the coach. TA went from been clapped when he walked accross the pitch to been booed in a very short space of time, eventually the board had no choice because results were so dire. The same thing happened to Faz and you can see the same thing happening with MC. It all usually follows the same route, bad results, supporters unrest, coach attacks players publically, players no longer perform for the coach, board backs coach, more bad results, supporters total revolt and thats usually that.
I would love to see what sort of team MC could put us together if he had a SL budget but its a fine line i guess. On one hand we can look optimistically that we will get in to SL and hold off any rash decisions. On the other hand realistically we wont be going in to SL and if the board dosnt act then we may find ourselves playing in Champ 1 next season and all the hard work of getting the crowds up over the last 2 seasons will be wasted when we are playing in front of 1K people.
