In what way is it relevant what clubs can afford? , fans are not stupid, they can see when something is being over abused, we need a play off system, but push it past ' reasonable ' and they wont support it

Because your club might go up the spout.

Money is never important to people who don't have to find it.

But I agree about the reasonableness - always a subjective judgement, but imho, it should not include teams who didn't finish in the top half.

Fully aware of the financial issues at Championship RL Clubs , however de valuing your regular season matches isnt the answer, just as de valuing your 1 st round of play off matches wont bring in more cash, quality not quantity is what we need to focus on, getting more people to the games we already have rather than just finding an extra game

Far too many games, I agree.

We need to start the season when the weather's good enough to start the season - not before March 1st.

How prone is the Shay to waterlogging, by the way ?

Take a look at AFC Halifax Town's fixture list & the No. of recent fixtures that have been postponed. They play tues eve then it's RL on thurs, you do the maths ! They've currently played TEN league fixtures fewer than Chester City who top their table.

FCHalifax's game has been put back to Wednesday.
Malcolm told me a tale some time ago.
Either the visiting team or the ground staff wanted one of our games called of due to surface water.
The ref makes the final decision and responded with "No one has ever drowned on a Rugby pitch"

Funnily enough, a referee at a Reserve Grade game suggested that standing water would have to me removed as "someone could drown in that"

I kid you not.

I once nearly drowned on one of the pitches at Roils Head, the game continued till the death. At that time it must have been the highest pitch in the Northern Hemisphere.
