I think some fans are deluded about how big a club we are. We have been in the 2nd tier for 11 seasons and got nowhere near SL, we are pulling in less than 1500 fans (whilst doing as the fans wished, and not using DR) and don't have the financial clout to compete with 4 clubs in our division, let alone the 4 we would play against should we make the Mid-8.

Perhaps the club deciding to take us in to a DR agreement is more of a reality check of our circumstances, than a case of ignoring the fans.

If it worked out, and brought us success, would the fans whinge as much, supporting a winning team with DR players. Would they balls. We crave success. I don't see much difference in signing championship journeymen for a season and playing players we don't own. Our own player development path has hardly been a roaring success!

I agree. I dont think Fax have had any choice but to 'play the game' to try and have a chance of getting back into SL. Its not fair to blame the BOD for having to take part in the mess which has been created by years of mishandling of the game by the powers that be.

It seems there is more involved in this link up other than players, including the commercial side of things with a lot of behind the scenes discussions having taken place.

It will all depend on the terms and conditions and you can bet that these will be the right ones for Fax otherwise we would not be involved.

DR is here not by our choice and will be used against us by our rivals, if we can make a deal that benefits us why not do so.

What we do know from the past few years is having no overseas players and by avoiding the DR route we have not been able to make any progress and it will be harder to do so from now on, we either make a well thought out move now or get left further behind.

Someone has to make the difficult decisions and the BOD have done, now it’s down to us to decide to back them or not.

Re: Hull KR Partnership : Fri Dec 19, 2014 10:32 am
As Bubba suggests above, this is what happens when one division is heavily loaded in favour of four teams.

The danger now is that we see the same four teams in the top four year in year out because of the financial advantage they enjoy. We are up against three full time squads next year and probably a fourth the year after when Fev finish top 4 again.

If the board don't find a way to bridge the gap then we face being a lower championship team whose most realistic route out of the division will be through relegation.

The new structure is a disaster for all the clubs outside the well funded sixteen clubs.

The BoD have not sold out and the crowds won't go below 1000. Why? Because the real fans will support the BOD decision. May not agree fully but we have taken note from the clubs who used it badly and I think it will work for a us. We are working with Chris Chester, a man whohas Fax close to his heart.
If you want to stay away do so, your the ones damaging the club but don't keep coming on here say how sh#t in is or commenting on next season when you haven't seen fax play. The has to do things to try move fax forward and few things may upset some folk. Don't be a keyboard warrior sitting there spurting c##p. Support the club not your inflated options

By your logic we should have merged with Bradford when super league was founded. Progress at all costs eh, smart thinking.

As a 'real fan' of 40 years I'm entitled to my opinion. Supporting one club for that long also gives you a grounding in good and bad decisions at the club and there have been many. Even though I now live overseas I still spend a significant chunk of my hard earned on merch and attend games every time I'm back home. That alone gives this 'keyboard warrior' the right to express my opinion so if you don't like it then use your rose tinted specs to read comments you like.

Well I guess only time will tell on this decision. Not something I wanted to happen at all but hopefully it will work in our favour.
Bring it on!

On the other hand, arid hard has inherited a squad he didn't recruit and there's no cash to do anything about it....

This is my main issue. Im not a fan of DR anyway, but had it have been a team like Leeds, I imagine some of their non-first teamers would contribute well at this level. Hull KR are not significantly better than us or anyone in this division, it suits them far more than us. A sad day for the club, and for the league.

Re: Hull KR Partnership : Fri Dec 19, 2014 12:15 pm
I really don't know what to make of this, looking at HKR's squad numbers I can't see which players we would want.

1. Kieran Dixon
2. Ben Cockayne
3. Darrell Goulding
4. Josh Mantellato
5. Ken Sio
6. Maurice Blair
7. Albert Kelly
8. Adam Walker
9. Keal Carlile
10. Michael Weyman
11. Kevin Larroyer
12. Graeme Horne
13. Tyrone McCarthy
14. Mitchell Allgood
15. James Donaldson
16. Ryan Bailey
17. Greg Burke
18. Liam Salter
19. Kris Welham
20. James Green
21. Aaron Ollett
22. Jordan Cox
23. Terry Campese
24. John Boudebza
25. Macauley Hallett
26. Sonny Esslemont
27. Josh Guzdek
28. Connor Robinson
29. Matthew Marsh
30. Steven Holker

From Hull's point of view in a ideal world which was injury free, no 1-17 would be off limits, and apart from Salter, Welham, Cox & Campese who will be in the side at different times of the season, who else get in our side? unless I'm missing something I've never heard of anyone else & most of them haven't even made there debut's for HKR yet and it's not as if they've had a brilliant academy team lately either.

Got a feeling HKR will struggle this season too - with a paper thin squad, theoretically could they borrow players of us? I don't know anything about DR.

Hold on - didn't this thread start with Fax being able to pick who they wanted, not what Rovers wanted to send ?

Or was that just so much spin ?
