From the Widnes forum:-

Yes it's a win of course but I feel a little disappointed.I had hoped for the team to set down a marker today and make a statement by romping it,40 odd points. What's happened to that word 'intensity' this evening ? Apparently the likes of Fax can't live with ours.

Another poster saying if they scored early they would run up a cricket score. Its ok to have an opinion but clueless people should not be able to offer one.

And if my aunty had balls she'd be my uncle.
They didn't score because we stopped them, as they stopped us. It was a proper blood and guts game not the usual 96-54 you get in SL.

Really enjoyed it, well done to all.

Every own forum has a bias even the Fax one. :thumb: Anyway the table wont lie at the end of the competition, as it will be the best teams in the top 4. Anyway i thought our attack was crap yesterday, but i will give credit to Fax for your defence though. Hopefully you can keep the intensity up for the rest of the games too.

Can't disagree with this. I thought the reason we didn't score was simply because the Fax defence was awesome. Were Widnes awful? I didn't think so in the main. I don't think Brown was as potent as he has been and I disagree with the guy that said Brown is only okay. He definitely didn't look sharp yesterday with a number of kicks hitting the defender or being kicked too strong but he has been a fine performer for us this year and I expect him to improve again in this competition as he regains match sharpness. Ultimately you can't get away from the fact that we had loads of possession and Fax managed to keep us from crossing the line due to them being organised and up for the fight.
In terms of the referee I did think that you got unfairly punished a few times but then again I think we are at the advantage of playing with a referee that we are used to playing with.

Anyway, you still have by the far the most attractive setting for a ground in the English game and a brilliant set of fans. Good luck in this comp.

Re: Score flattered widnes : Mon Aug 10, 2015 8:08 pm
Now that was a proper game of rugby. None of this 65- 52 nonsense. Both defences worked really hard and this was all about taking your chances when they did come. Widnes took theirs well and we just fluffed our lines on attack at crucial times. That's part of the our learning curve and that will come in time under this current coaching set up.
It was frustrating at times when trying to determine some of the refs decisions(for both sides) but I am pretty certain the penalty count favoured Widnes and that creates additional pressure. I wish we could get Johnno back to the halves as his last tackle in-goal kicking is better that Murrells and he needs to have the ball in his hands as much as possible -especially on hot days, hard grounds and against big forwards. If we are lucky with injuries and our lads can keep this intensity up for the remaining games, we may turn a SL team over. That would be another major step forward. Great effort yesterday and proud to be a Fax fan.See you in Hull.

What did you guys think of the attendance?

3,400 there if I'm correct and id say 500 or so were Widnes fans. I thought there may be more home fans, as i always remember that south stand being packed back in the Championship days- granted it may of been because of the in-completed stand.

What attendances do you normally get at home?
