Re: Rent issues--new twist. : Tue Aug 16, 2016 8:13 am
Out of the rumours some things are factual as opposed to wild speculation.
Directors will be owed money and it will show as a dept, this is true for many sports clubs, especialy rugby league clubs not just Fax.
Old directors can call in debts but if they did it would be hard to believe it was at the expense of putting the club at risk, sending a club bust is more likely to lead to them not getting anything or at best a lot less.
The rent adjudicator has been called in, we know why, results as yet unknown but we know what ever the amount of turns out to be we will either pay the rent or not play at the Shay simple as that.
New players will be coming in and a good few will be leaving.
On this what I ask myself.
Why would a young coach with other options sign a contract extension if the infrastructure of the club was bad?
Why would overseas players want to up roots fly half way round the world to join a club if it was so bad and why would a former player recommend that they do so?
Why would any new UK based players want to join a club if it was so bad?
Why would young players want to join a club if it was so bad?
Communication from the club could be much better but to say there is no leadership if we say we don't factually know what is going on is a contradiction in terms.
If the leadership was that bad then we wouldn't even be here talking about it as the club would have gone bust as we're not going to get crushed in the rush by people wanting to replace the BOD.

The Council Leader has said that no arbitration was ever triggered.

Swings and roundabouts for me.

On the one hand - it would seem there are "issues" - investors and shareholders disappearing, the arbitration issue removed from the website. No visible use of money we earnt spent on strengthening first team (was it used to clear debts?)

But, on the other hand, if things were so bad why would Richard Marshall extend his contract - especially if we couldn't afford to bring in the players he feels will strengthen the team?

The board probably can't comment on the arbitration situation, certainly can't comment on player contracts for next year and don't need to comment on the financial situation. So can understand the silence - but fans will always fill in the gaps, especially after a cruddy season

We do know Fax made an official request for an arbitrator to be called in.

If it was never triggered or didn't actually lead to that then possibilities are Fax changed their minds or a resolution to the problem was agreed or something else unknown but I 'm speculating which I don't like doing because its worthless.

Fact remains, if we don't pay, we don't play at the Shay, nothing more to say.

Thought the initial article said the clubs solicitors had already applied for arbitration and the position had become untenable...
serious climbdown then if it wasn't triggered.Never understood why a dispute over a few grands rent would make the clubs position untenable anyway ?

I thought the original article stated that the clubs requests for negotiations were being ignored by the council and this was the part that was untenable and because of that the club had instructed it's solicitors to call in a arbiter. The rent was the focal point of the original dispute but the club also stated they felt the council were ignoring parts of the contract and as a consequence were not fulfilling their obligations.
Even if they have made no progress and failed why would it be a serious climb down?
Why can't it be a well meaning attempt by the BOD to improve it's financial standing or just an attempt to stand up for itself?
Likewise with any directors loans.
Why are the BOD being questioned about commitment and when they put there money it's twisted round as being debt that could sink the club?
Why is not seen as a serious attempt to keep the club afloat and to try and move forward?
They may be quiet on some matters but putting your money were your mouth is year after year with no chance of getting any of it back says a lot.

Well said Faxcar, the BID are there every weekend, and the dats in between, whilst it would be good to an update it is not the end if we don't. If the club folded tomorrow then questions would be asked as to why they didn't look for support but I'm guessing (speculating) that we are in a position where we can play on and also look to recruit for next season. As you say, RM would not have signed if was not told he had funds to help improve on the current squad. Oh, and I've not heard of anybody not being payed as at the Bulls.

Part quote. "As you say, RM would not have signed if was not told he had funds to help improve on the current squad."
Norm.
The rent issue, approach to it and decisions about it are just one of many that they will think about.
Michael Steel said that the funding for next years recruitment would be around the same amount as this season despite missing out on a top 4 finish.
Where the money is coming from?
I have no idea but I can't see any scenario where the BOD have a secret agenda to commit sporting genocide and kill the club off.

The playing budget for 2017 will be the same as 2016.Clever admittance that it wasnt increased for 2016 despite the 750k.

Okay when they don't say anything that's wrong and when they do it's a cleaver way of disguising something.
Anyway you would have to compare the playing budget from 2015 against this year not 2017 to know if it had been increased for 2016.
At least it hasn't decreased which would be likely if we had no funds.
