Unless I'm completely wrong thought it was just 2 up 2 down - leaders of league 1 automatically promoted with 1 other team coming up after a play off against the other top teams in leagues 1. Bottom 2 from championship then being relegated meaning we just need to finish above Dewsbury and 1 other to avoid being relegated
They changed this year to reduce the league to 13 this time around so the bottom two in our league are relegated automatically and replaced by the top team in League 1. 2nd to 6th in League 1 then have a play off series with the winner playing 3rd from bottom in the Championship to determine promotion/releagtion.
Nothing to do with sacking Finn and with it being obvious that the problem lies with the current playing staff seeing if the club can bring in any more players to strengthen the team because as it is with the current group the same players keep doing the same things and are getting the same results.

which means a team sits out every week next year....we need more teams in championship not less.especially with way we’re going..

I think its a stupid decision, why reduce the quality of a higher division just because the lower division has less teams. It makes no sense when the Championship would have been such a competitive league next season with Wakey getting replaced by London and Dewsbury likely by Oldham.
This season has just enforced my opinion that it were better that Grix left, he showed no signs of looking to move this set of players on and his blind faith in them is one of the reasons we are in deep trouble. Finn has been trying to change things but he is stuck with a core of a team that has not performed for a number of seasons now. It is a double whammy for Finn now as the club is obviously on the brink so his best hope is to bring in some bargains that will give 100% and hope we can do a Batley. Feels like 2004 all over again so lets hope we can escape like then this time.
Yet it was argued that any other coach with this squad of players would do better and clearly Finn and his coaching staff haven’t been able to, if anything there playing worse than ever and if the rumours are true Kav, Bob and Zack and others will be re-signed by Liam.
I think the main problem for the club is having too many balls in the air at the same time what with inherited debt, IMG, the future of the Shay still up in the air etc and it’s these off the field issues that are impacting on the finances and what we’re seeing on the field. Just a couple of fresh faces who just got really stuck in could help put some spark back into the team.
I thin people are forgeting 3 teams can go down and even if dewsbury and haven finnish below us we could still face say keighley or oldham in the relegation play off
Betfred Championship and League One, 2024-26 - summary 2024 The top six in the Betfred Championship will compete in a Play-Off series as in previous seasons, with additional prize money on offer for the winners of the Grand Final – which will be played on the weekend of October 19-20.
The team finishing top of Betfred League One will secure automatic promotion to the Championship, with the bottom two teams in the Championship relegated to League One.
Teams finishing second to sixth in League One will then compete in a Play-Off series, with the winners then facing the 12th-placed team in the final Championship table to determine the 13thposition in the 2025 Championship.
An application process will be launched for a new club to join League One in 2025 – with the RFL Board to make a decision in September.

So finishing 12th, likely to face either Keighley or Oldham at home - these two seem to be significantly stronger.
You would think it would be at the home of the Championship team but this does not seem to have been confirmed.
Looking at the fixtures we are looking at 3 or 4 wins out of our next 11 matches which would pretty much keep us where we are looking at the 11th-13th spots. There is a very realistic chance that our final game up at Haven could be a relegation decider with the winner of that game still facing possible relegation through that playoff. Its a shocking thought really and just shows what a mess our club has become, we really need to pick up a shock win or two from somewhere but we really do not look to have it in us but I hope i'm wrong.
