Can't add to that Gregg, that's what supporters do. "Not going again, don't like leaving Thrum Hall" "Not going again, don't like summer Rugby" "Not going again, don't like Karl Harrison" "Not going again don't like Dual Reg"
I think a lot of these people who say "not going again until" do not understand the finances of keeping a club like HALIFAX RLFC going. So as I have said before, those of you who will walk away, get in touch with the board and tell them the alternative. I am sure they would appreciate your input.
I think all of your above quotes of "not going again" sort of sum up the demise of Halifax RLFC's attendances over the recent 15 years or so, well pointed out JD. What would be the point of contacting the board ? they don't listen to what the supporters want, some of them appear to have the attitude of we'll do what we want anyway. One of the current b.o.d. asked me to "judge us at the end of the season" in an email to me around may last year, well, i've got news for him, the league table & our team's performances judged for themselves, the attendances didn't lie & in my opinion, dropping the reserves & going dual-reg is yet another b.o.d. error, so waiting until the end of 2015 season will be about three or four months too late 'cos there's a split at the end of july and if we cannot finish higher than 5th position it will be disastrous. If we can finish 4th at least, that would make us 8th worst ( or thereabouts ) in the middle eight division, that'll be fun if we can't already compete or beat those above us in the part of the season prior to the split of divisions !
The "finances of the club" as you put it are dependant on the b.o.d. making correct business decisions, i fully understand the concept, IT'S THE ENTERTAINMENT BUSINESS !!!!! Are the club or it's directors prepared to say how much the club shop lost last season yet ?
I'll put a question to you with regards to those who "stayaway" because of the inferior product being served up:
If the chip van allowed it's chips standard to drop so low, would you cease purchasing them ( ie: in RL terms "stayaway" ) or would you contact the proprietor of the chip van service with advice on how to improve his product in the future to sustain & build on it's chip van empire ? From my point of view, i'd just cut the chips bit out to be honest if they're not up to scratch...
Bolton Brow fisheries, chips with bits, salt n vinegar in paper 0% mmmmmmm
But if you'd enjoyed those chips for many years, they were your local chips and you'd have to travel to get any chips or not eat chips at all then might you offer your advice? You could always eat TV advertised oven ready chips that are all the same but you know you really prefer your locally made ones, don't you?
Any way, hopefully the chips will be good, they'll do well in Blackpool and any big chip competitions that may be around and you can then proudly say that those are your local chips, which may have had to use the odd bag of spuds from East Yorkshire.
" The strategic group has been formed to assist the Directors to look at everything we do and ensure we are working in the right direction, particularly to increase the spectator numbers and improve the match day experience"
Would the BOD deliberately make decisions that are not in the interest of the club? Obviously they wouldn't but sometimes things don't work out as they had planned. The well known saying "That everyone is wise after the event" comes to mind.
As to listening to supporters that would be a good thing if it could be done.
Just taking the DR topic as a for instance, views range from "never ever", to "no problem", and just about everything in between.
Which ones are they going to listen to without the others saying the are deaf ?
And you SL,CC + Wolrab in Leytherland look fwd to seeing you all. Regards from Bentley Towers
Happy New Year Michael ,hope things are well in Sunny Bentley ?Wont be long before our trip to the Shay ,will be good to see you again ,you looked very down the last time we met , hope you have cheered up a bit now ?

Your right Colin, I had never thought of it that way. I will not go to Leigh as they don't do chips. Workingtons were poor but at least they do them so I will go under protest. Sheffield, I hate the place and as they don't do chips it will not worry me not going. I've wasted four trips to Toulouse as they don't do chips so I will be very cross if they are allowed back into our league. Batley and Keighley you can expect my full support. As Nelson famously said "I see no Chips"
