I have no problem with Simon giving his opinion to the board on who should be the next coach everyone is entitled to one. I would hope that the board do have a good idea who they want and it would be good if anybody as heard any names on who might be interested in the job. What i would question was the interview by Richard Durgan regarding recruitment for next year. He did say that we have done a fair bit of business early this year which is fair enough but there was still gaps in the squad to fill which they ideally want the new coaches thoughts on but also Simons. This is not a dig at Simon but for me it should be entirely the new coaches call on the rest of recruitment for next year.
Absolutely, the new coach you would have thought should not only be involved in any other incomings but have the final say.
What’s done is done and down to a lot of players contracts being sorted in the spring time but for any new coach getting “his” team in place is always one of the first priorities.
That’s basically what’s been said with some input from SG regarding the new coach.
Just me thinking now about the logic of it but seems to me that it leans towards a younger less experienced person as someone like John Kear everyone knows his cv and how he coaches.
I get the “way we play dna bit” for a younger guy and from the start all being on the same page but would it be the best of starts for an established reputable coach to know he only gets the job if the outgoing guy approves it?
Just have to wait and see on this one.
