i have a feeling afew Super league fans are getting worried.

although i can only see us going up if they extend to 16 teams, which is more than possible.

In 3 years there's been 2 buyers for Wheldon Road (first pulled out this year)
Outline & full planning permission granted
Architects appointed and designs completed
Contractors hired
2 sponsors for the stadium adding up to about 10% of total funding

So a lot of movement in 3 years, with no council support in the middle of a global recession.

At the end of the day you got into Super League last time on promises of playing in a brand new stadium BY 2012

They can have all the planning permission, fancy designs, architects appointed etc but at the end of the day Cas have not met the promises they made in the last round of franchises.

Just keep believing the spin if it keeps you happy!!!

Not trying to be on the wind up or anything and I'm glad Cas have got this sorted (I even signed something for them at the 9s) but when was the actual permission GIVEN not 'hoped to be given'/fancy designs etc etc? I was under the impression it was after the license deadline date. What was put forward as definately happening and was signed and sealed is what should be accounted for in the process. If Cas didn't get all this permission until after then that should be that and they should be judged as playing at the Jungle now and for the future.

That's a problem the RFL should have not Cas. I'm not blaming Cas if the RFL can't stick to rules.

I think what faxhali is trying to say is, we had many of things in place, but still waited 10 years for 1 stand. Don't pin your hopes, and certainly not your 'licence application' (shiver) on drawings and agreements. They mean sweet fatty arbuckle

Not much has changed in 5 years. Your licence will be based on Wheldon Road and not the "proposed" new stadium. You will just have to hope that having a modern stadium isnt weighted more than having a youth set up.

SOMEBODY SAID that it couldn’t be done
But he with a chuckle replied
That “maybe it couldn’t,” but he would be one
Who wouldn’t say so till he’d tried.
So he buckled right in with the trace of a grin
On his face. If he worried he hid it.
He started to sing as he tackled the thing
That couldn’t be done, and he did it!

The new stadium was signed off a couple of months ago, just waiting on planning permission on Wheldon Road to get the money from Opus North for a Supermarket where the current stadium is, this is being discussed this month by the council and building is pencilled in to start by the end of this year.

If 2 come up it's a 15 team league (which would make sense for the Championship with Toulouse going, promote an extra team from C1 makes it even again). But I can see it staying at 14 and Halifax were only told they're still in the running so the RFL can say they gave them another chance but just don't meet the standard compared to the existing clubs try again in 3 years (when you will beat Wakefield in the criteria).

And an uneven Championship 1

Ok then how about a stadium where all 4 stands can be used, one of the best youth developments in England and a top 8 team in Super League (and making a profit)

Only 1 team are leaving Super League and only 1 will be coming up.

A team who have been in 4 Finals in 3 years, Won 2 so far, are consistently at the top of their division, Have made profit, Have the facilities and are able to get the sponsorship deals.

As far as top 8 in super league its a bit poor really out of 14 teams.

2008 You finished Bottom in 12th
2009 you finished 7th out of 14
2010 you finished 9th out of 14
2011 you are finishing 7th or 6th at best.

All that does is make you a mid table side at best, Fax took you to Golden Point in Challenge cup and another Championship team beat you the year after.

This would make some sense apart from the fact that at the Widnes franchise anouncement Richard Lewis was specifically asked the question.

"Will Super League be expanded to include more than 14 teams?"
An emphantic no was the answer.

Pressing on the interviewer then asked "What even if there are new backers with extra finacial support?"

Again an emphatic NO was the answer again.

Richard Lewis continued saying "whilst new backers are always very welcome the main concern is the lack of quality players to go round to maintain and improve playing standards for any teams in Super League and to go beyond 14 teams would downgrade the competion in this respect."

Whilst not agreeing with him unless there as been a complete change of mind it will be one up and one down.

Thing with great new money backers is the majority of recent ones in RL have only long term done damage to a club... Crusaders under Samuel as clear example!

I have felt something building with this over the last few weeks, i just cant see it though, i think we all know Wakey are going at this stage, but will they kick Cas out too? i can't see them doing.

i am living in hope though,

we are ready now and Cas are still waiting on If's and But's Huddersfeild have been playing at the shay for their last 3 games and have had no need for the North Stand and i highly doubt if we got in that we would need the North stand too.
