Did you see who the `Independent` commitee was when Widnes got in? If it was totally unbiased then Crushambles would never have got in in the first place.

Can't see this about Quins as they are still signing players on 2 year contracts at the moment.

It can't be independent if they have anything to do with the RFL.
They should get the facts for each team with no names mentioned and see who gets in then.

Wakey are down.
There may be and it's only a maybe something in the Quinns situation.

They are struggling big time finacially, both with a big money backer and with the current crowds they are getting and are rumoured to be pretty close to administration again.

The RFL do not want to go down the same road as they did with the Crusaders in having to fund another bail out and are watching their purse strings very closely.

The Quinns are the Super League equivolent of Toulouse, the RFL do not want to lose them but to keep them may mean that they have to take a step back before any more steps forward.

Toulouse will go to the French Elite league which still keeps the door open and Quins may well go to the Championship with a similar setup in the future.

This is the only way and out of all the rumours that I have heard that makes any sense and keeps the RFL in bed with their favourites.
One long week to wait before we know for sure.

Not me personally, however.
That is what a very recent rumour is saying.

The doubt factor is that it is unconfirmed and comes from a "in the know source" to a "friend" of a "in the know source" etc.

The credibilty factor is that for the "friend" of the "in the know source" to pass on the information meant slightly going out of their way, why would they do that??
Therefore it's either a 10 out of 10 windup or a valid tip off.

How would this not help them ?. Their money backer would not be shelling out as much as they would become more self sufficient in the finance department with a lower salary cap = lower wages, the backer would not have to shell out as big a shortfall, Quins would actually win some games and might generate people into watching it more, thus increasing their attendances. If they maintain the attendances they have now then they would be in line with most of this league who manage, just about to stay afloat without money men.

Basically it would give them chance to consolidate their finances, give them chance at winning something/at least competing and perhaps even develop some youth for the future from london.

I'm all for the London brand and it does provide good and much needed development to the South of the country but the Club as a Super League team isn't doing anything for anyone other than being poor on the field and having no fans off it resulting in loss of money. There are 1,000s of kids in London who do play RL, but it's clear that the fact Quins are in SL doesn't matter to them as they don't go (along with parents).
What Quins are good for is development from a younger age down. What would be the best for them is if their first team played in the Championship but their academy were still allowed to play SL teams for development and they still got help funding kids development in the area. That still sways/favours to the RFLs expansion dream but in terms of a senior Club will be fairer on the process as that Club aren't worthy of a Super League spot.

Back in may a leigh fan emailed the rfl asking the question and the answer came back,yes this year does count.

Like someone on the Wakefield board said, how can this season count towards ticking the box when the superleague team dropping down cant compete in it. There could be two different teams in the grand final, which would mean 3 teams have ticked the box ahead of the dropping superleague team actually being able to compete. The system is flawed.
