In all honesty I haven't been near the place since midway through the 2010 season. I heard some pretty horrendous rumours (from pretty reliable sources- ones who haven't been wrong in the past).
In answere to your question - Go on the Barrow Official site and read the press release - It is a simple press release which has no statement from the current BoD with an explanation.
There has been absolutely zero information given to any supporters from the Bod. I feel very sorry for those who are working tirelessly to try and improve the ground etc. Any improvements that you see at Crazy Park have come out of the ar*e pockets of some very loyal supporters of Barrow.
When Barrow won the Grand Final in 2009 ( I hope legitimately) I thought the club would kick on, get a youth policy set up and make improvements to the ground or even do a Wakefield and have plans approved for a potential new stadium. None of this happened other than a group of loyal supporters paying £15 to watch the game and then very generously paying into the deevelopment fund. I got halfway through the 2010 season and thought "Bollo*cks to this, im being taken for a bit of a mug".
The current squad, although blessed with some cracking players, has to many overpaid journey men who are taking the club, its supporters and its sponsors for complete mugs. As a local lad who played for the club's Academy it pains me to say that im having no part in the current boll*cks going on down there. Its just a shame that a few of us were on these forums sticking up for the club when quite clearly (from the 6 point suspended deduction) that payments, as you say, were being passed around "irregularly"
It sounds like you've been down a similar path to myself Gary, but my beef is with the game's governors & not the club in any way at all. I totally respect the work that loads of paid & unpaid people put in at Halifax RLFC. I'm just stuffed with the game in general, with the lies, deceit & mafia that run the game. I can't see me ever falling out with Halifax RLFC or ceasing to support them in the way that you have done. I feel for you & the way you've fallen out with your club.
