Unbelievable reading this, you lose a friendly 30-12 and your seasons over, get a grip for feks sake

Nothing to do with season over GD it's the style of play again and the potential for a full season of the same.

There was not one single line break from Fax all the game and in 40 minutes down hill we couldn't score one point.

It was no different at Batley last week.

If Fax have another season of this type of Rugby then another few hundred will likely stop watching it.

It was a £10 entrance fee yesterday, the league game would have been £17 and for what was on display it was not worth it, fact.

I will still go come what may but there are a number who won't and the decline in the crowds off the field will have a significant impact on the field it's as simple as that.

There is a lot more at stake than "just one friendly" and I have seen nothing different from what we have been seeing over the last two previous seasons.

Not panicking but just looked like the same old same old, same moves that don't work, 2nd half we looked very poor in attack, no ideas as per last year. I see the ground is being blamed again in the paper today, same for both sides surely.

fax looked better on a firmer ground at cas on boxing day than on heavy pitches last two weeks.

Agree with that but still same for both sides. If we have a team who can't play on softer ground then jobs knackered don't you think.

Re: Featherstone Friendly : Mon Jan 20, 2014 12:58 pm
I maybe reading too much into this and saw the game slightly differently.
Fax started much the brighter and moved the ball well in the opening quarter and deservedly took the lead. Fax defence was urgent (to the point of over exhuberance) - not that I think that is necessarily a bad thing.
Fev have some finishers and some genuine pace this year which in the end made a difference. Our experiment at half back failed and our forrads had to reajust.
With less than a quarter of the game remaining there was only one score in it.
Two late scores gavve an air of "comfort" to the score line.
Harrison has his work cut out if Fax are to make inroads to the top three. As someone on this thread who made an astute observation said .... Leigh will most certainly be there or thereabouts come August.
Is Harrison your man?? Dunno. But I do know that a friendly is way too early to be calling for a coaches head on a sliver platter!!!
People were very vociferous in calling for calland..... he delivered the trophy... albeit smoke damaged!!!

One thing that did surprise me was how much on top of our pack Fev looked. On paper I would take our pack over any in the league but they just looked a bit disjointed and out of sorts. I wonder if KH is regretting maybe not giving Keith Mason some game time while having a look at him. It does appear we need some more bustle up front.

I don't get this we have the best ts pack thing, people said that last year and all I saw was everytime we played a decent team their pack got ontop of us, with a few exceptions like Ambler and Divorty.

Our pack is more mobile then big in my opinion, except Tonks, but once Tonks is gone we lack size to get our noses through and Tonks due to his size is a spell player. Manning is a good player but not exactly big, same for some others too. A couple of big guys would make all the difference.
