In 1996.
Salford.

Huddersfield.
Wakefield.
Widnes.
Were all in division 1.

Hull KR
Leigh were in division 2.

That's 7 clubs that are now in SL, if our structure was like the NRL again none of these would be in SL today, they would be lower tier feeder clubs at best or out of business at the worst.

I do not agree we are like the NRL and never have been, but I do believe that it is something like that some would like, 1 elite league and the rest to feed them, not for me thanks.

My post was never about all the problems and issues facing the game, simply to let people know the threat from within and to disagree with the manner of funding it.

Now Sky's new contract started this season which also included broadcasting Championship games as they took the rights to it from Premier Sports. Why haven't we seen a Championship game broadcasted this season?

Any comparison of the game in Europe and - hey, North America now - with the NRL is pointless until we have the interest of the paying public which the NRL commands.

With your grasp of the financial side of things have you any idea what the costs would be to make SL a 14 team comp at the current SL levels?
As commented a 13 team comp just doesn't make sense from a logistics perspective apart from the finances.

Also how much does the Championship as a whole receive in central funding as we are now or would be if the eights were scrapped?
I can never keep up with the figures and just as a matter of interest have been wondering what the costs to the lower tiers could be as a general figure if they picked up the tab.

Might not be obvious to Nigel Woods though - not enough fingers/thumbs (at least I don't think so!) to count up to twelve and can't see his toes, to use them!

Apparently. he can count up to 314,000 (or perhaps he get his accountant to do it for him).
