That piece in the courier sums it up perfectly, I really don't see their issue.
Karl Harrison worked wonders at Batley, it goes without saying, he took over not long after we beat them 72-6 or something on a monday or tuesday (?) night and I remember forum posts from Batley fans at the time questioning if they were on a slippery slope down to the level of say Rochdale or Oldham from which they'd not be able to come back.
Within a couple of years he saved them from relegation, and won their first cup in generations.
When Rhino was approached to coach fax he was said in the press (Courier again i think) to have told the Batley board around 6 weeks before the end of the season that he was leaving to coach us, and basically gave them notice to renew contracts of any players they wished to. He didnt his team until after their playoff defeat that he was leaving, even if it was a bit of an open secret.
Rhino didn't leave Batley "in the lurch", they have been able to recruit an adequate replacement not only as the coach but also for most if not all the departing players. But for some reason they don't seem to like Halifax too much
