I don't understand the bitterness from some of our fans with respect to last night's loss on the field, really, to criticise the stated attendance, to state "fat coach", no fans etc etc etc really does read embarrassingly for me & I hope people regret making those comments.
First things first, call Aston what you like, but he get's his side up for the so called big games, and they're the currnet champions, he'll be laughing into his spam & double egg butty this morning no doubt, we got spanked last night. The no fans bit is all a little boring now, we're not in such good shape ourselves by recent season's comparisons looking at our home attendances, i myself have only been to one home game in the last seven for various reasons, but 1,500 average is alarming. Fev away & last night tells me that there is still the interest to follow our team for the important away games, indeed, i really wish this morning i was looking forward to London away in the challenge cup quarter finals, so if the Eagles pull that tie, the very best of luck to them and for the rest of the cup campaign, let's hope it amounts to damaging their league results a'la Fev last year & doesn't have the opposite effect in giving them improved confidence 'cos if that happens, there'll only be one winner in the other comps.
I really do think that our injuries & team selections due to the injuries are hampering what we want to do on the field and every club goes through such periods, but Sheffield looked far quicker in defence & worked our forwards over just like Fev did, they kicked better than we did, they dominated field position & at no time during the game did i feel we were good enough to win. The Worrincey incident/wrong option did cost us when they scored and we were on top at that moment but they came away & punished our error. BUT, if there hadn't been a man in support you'd simply call it a great try saving tackle. I'm not gonna slate his efforts last night, his energy should have been infectious, he worked very hard & yet again coped well with their obvious kicking plan. There's nothing to say that a pass would have guaranteed a score, but he took the wrong option fair do's. Luke was again the pick of the forwards by a long way, i'll leave it at that, but great shift last night Luke lad.
The subs bench, gameplan, interchanges etc must have been disastrous with Scott's injury on thursday night. The draw was made a couple of weeks ago, the coach's will have had the gameplan set and once sunday's game was out of the way and injuries assessed the focus intensified during the week. Any team would miss the contributions Murrell has made this season but we're gonna have to cope, so how important does a trip to Dewsbury on thursday now become ? I know my feelings but we will need to be fit & healthy to win there.
It's the performances that worry me, i can just about cope with losing. Losing to a better team like last night and at Fev hurts me to watch but we get a chance to erase last night on thursday.
Robinson & Adamson's contributions are being missed & Morro was a total wrecking ball for the reserves on thursday, I can see him getting some gametime if he's anything like fit.
I agree about Worrincy's hard work throughout the night, and I like his speed and constant coming in field to look for work (because we don't seem to want to get it out to him on the wing). BUT why have no coaches worked with him to teach him how to actually pass the ball. I go to most games with my granddaughter and we have a game to see who can spot a Worrincy pass. Last season we saw 1. Now if I know that all other players know that and under no circumstances would they ever take a dummy from him. There was a couple of occasions last season where we missed tries because he didn't pass to the player on the inside and last night it was a act of self implosion, as it would have taken us to within 2 points with us on a roll had he passed. Karl has to work on this element of his game....... Please......

Thought we bossed the game for much of it to be honest but poor options and lapses cost us.
We are probably about 1 or 2 real quality players from having the best team in this division and without Murrell last night I thought it just highlighted a lot of the problems we had for much of last season. Its clear to everyone watching last night we need a good hooker and we need one now.
Our distribution from acting half is crap to put it politley and the ball is far too slow to Handforth and Thackery giving them little space to work with and in turn poor options from them under pressure just seem to compound the problem.
We threw the game away last night and I didnt think Sheffield really had to do much to beat us as I didnt think they played that well either but it easy to look decent against a team that struggles to get past the third tackle on many occasions.
Wigan Athletic have been surviving in the Premier League on crowds of c. 15000 for years now. They have a chance to lift the FA Cup tomorrow. You don't win games in the stands.
FWIW if Worrincy doesn't have that complete brainfart I think you win. You'd have been 2 behind with your tails up rather than 14 down.
er Wigan Athletic have Dave Whelan and his DW Sports millions thats why they stay up!!!
Was having a chat on Twitter with little rich last night and I said you can say what you want about Tubbs but he's the best coach in the competition and players want to play for him.
Good point with the crowd baiting also. I don't really care to be honest, there could be me, my old man and no one else as long as we won the game, there did look to be more than the stated figure, but whatever!
I could understand it if Fax were drawing crowds of 5k or 6k, but you're not! We've only had one crowd of <1k in the league this season, you're averaging 1.5k. Hardly anything to write home about is it?
But like I said, thoroughly unimportant. It's on the pitch that matters and we're in the hat, and I'm delighted.
The crowds you have put for your games this season tells a lie surely, otherwise where did your other 650 fans go last night??? The crowd was poor last night I walked up to the back of the stand at half time to find somebody and it was 2/3 Halifax (say 450) 1/3 Sheffield (say 237) so like I say if you are getting 1K crowds where are the other Eagles fans? Yer we aint setting the world alight with our gates but at least they are TRUE gates not bean counting free tickets issued which you are allowed to do stupidly in my opinion. My big question is how do you afford to keep such a good squad on such low crowds??? Something just does not stack up for me, who is bankrolling you?

poor last night lost far too much ball on 1st or 2nd tackle we lost any momentum we built, hate Don valley too far away to see and no atmosphere glad we aint going there again or are we there for the league game?

It's the same blokes that set the club up 13 years ago.
No secrets, spend within your means, improve year on year, and importantly for us stability with a good coach who attracts good players.
We're not paying big wages believe me.
And what free tickets? The club introduced free U16 ST's to try and get the kids in but other than that there aren't any free tickets.
I will reiterate again, you don't win matches in the stands you win them on the pitch. Would there be all this bleating about the crowd had you won? Doubt it somehow.
Concentrate on yourselves, we'll concentrate on our Challenge Cup Quarter Final and retaining the Championship.
" Be friends you fools be friends " Henry V. Poor old Zak Hardaker just dropped a bomb and paid for it straight away. My only contribution to this topic is "that was no Eagle it was a bloody duck" Well done Sheffield. Brilliant tackle by Hardaker but Leeds break away and score a superb try.

On the pitch you won and fair dos you deserved it no argument and you have a good team, my question remains about your crowd figures they are inflated surely??? I also ask how do you keep such good players like Quentin Togagae he is SL standard. Maybe Fax should make a bid to get hime next year and test this 'we pay not much' as you say?
