I still fail to understand as to why its become a hate campaign from the Football club's followers (not the club themselves, they've been relatively quiet, at least in the press) against the Rugby Club.
If the directors of FCHT were in a position to buy The Shay from the council, I doubt many Rugby Fans would begrudge the football buying the place back. But its been a council owned property for a generation. Its not the football clubs to sell and as tenants they have little say in the matter.
One of the reason's been given against Tony Abbott buying The Shay through Reactiv Media is that if Reactiv was to go under, The Shay could be sold to the highest bidder. Has everyone forgotten that when Abbott brought his shares in Fax he did so through the same company? No one was worried about that?
The resentment has been around from when Fax first moved to the Shay from Thrum Hall.
It's their ground and no one else should be allowed anywhere near it.
The Fact that allthough they try and belittle everything that Fax do the RL club is seen as a threat achievement wise or the bigger of the two clubs and they have little man syndrome.
The Town fans on the one hand claim it is a community assett but don't want anyone outside their community involved in it, as long as the tax payer picks up the tab, no problem.
In that sense anyone involved in the Shay is in debt to the other tax paying public of Halifax every year and you don't have to apply the freedom of information act to find that out.
They go on about the alledged debt of The rugby club but if Fax were not at the Shay the £200.000 grand that has been mentioned that it costs to keep it open would still apply and the shortfall would be even greater because it would only be less what FC Town pay in rent with the rest payed for by the tax payer that they don't want in the ground unless you follow football.
The thing that worries me, Brew, is the direction in which FCHT fans are going. They keep stressing that Reactiv are trying to buy the Shay on the cheap. What they don't seem to realise is that the Shay has 2 values:
1. As a stadium with a stipulation that it can only be used for sport.
2. As a piece of land with no restrictions.
The latter obviously carries a far higher value and, if the council are determined to unload it I would much rather they sold it to Reactiv under option 1 but the FCHT fans, in their hatred of all things Fax, will end up with option 2 and then both clubs will be stuffed.
Shay fans have seen it all before and have plenty of bad experiences with 'businessmen' so are right to be cautious with this episode. Little was known of Abbott until the company check, it isn't good reading. The fact that your accounts don't look too good and you owe rent of £52,000 doesn't help your cause.
Even if Abbott is the knight in shining armour you think he is what happens when he dies or gets fed up, will his heirs be charitable towards to sporting fraternity?
Clauses and covenants in any deal are worthless, Thrum Hall had those........................it is now a supermarket.
Did not Mr Steele, just two years ago, vote to get FC Halifax off the Stadium trust?
Sorry, Shay fans cannot trust him or your club.
The only real option is shared ownership like The John Smiths Stadium, Huddersfield.
Seriously RS who would you want to share it with because the approach and attitude from the Town fans is always aggressive, derogatory, critcal etc of anything and everything to do with the Rugby club.
Many on here wish only the best for Town, some even support both clubs and have said over and over again both clubs need to work together but every time we get it rammed back in our faces and even the sensible concerns get lost in the crap.

OK, then. So option 1 carries a possible risk at some future date whereas option 2 is instant finito. No brainer really so should suit FCHT fans admirably.

What you on about regards the Stadium Trust, Michael Steele was very pro SST and if it had a) some money and b) been run by the right people not the ones who ran it very badly and would not listen to anybody else and had the wrong person in Geoff Butler as Chief Executive (also a big Town fan funnily enough) it might have worked but remember it went bust. Why? Bad management and not enough income, now the East Stand is complete a Stadium Company would have a better chance of making it work but ONLY if money was invested in more facilities to create income streams which is what Reactiv are planning. NO way do I want to see EITHER club involved in running the Shay, it will only work as a private company or a 'not for profit' Community Interest Company with guarantees to ensure it remains for sport (which I have to ask why would it not now it has 3 decent stands?) for both clubs play there and that if it does not work out it is handed back to the Council.

Now the gloating by Town fans is nearly over and the dust has settled, some of them are finally realizing that their `revelations` about Fax will not strengthen the views that the Shay shouldnt be sold, it actually weaken them in the eyes of the people that matter.
Not only will it not slow down the sale of the Shay it will probably quicken it and Town fans can take some credit for that.
