Charlie, I don't feel as though I should give a rats ass when the club clearly doesn't. The only marketing we seem to do is what feels like some sixth form project of " your club needs you ". Videos.
This season is the biggest in the last decade. 3 games into the season we already start getting excuses from the coach and the club saying other clubs are spending big and it will be Hard to compete. Seriously!, such inspiring words from a club with ambition. Not.
Bring back Hall and Calland and tell Tony " ten thousand " Abbott to bugger off as he hasn't done anything for the club, we were better before.
Faxhali , that's the whole point to being a Fan ,"You do give a Rats Ass ", about what happens to your club and team , Fax are a very good club with great support , I have had the privilege of meeting a fair few good Fax fans over the years , I realise theres not much you can do for the teams performances other than cheer them on , but always back them , it isn't over yet ,im not a KH fan but I think you need consistency to be able to grow , your players are talented , ive seen what you can do against us this season , well in the first half anyway , you are capable , have faith .
Bagging the guy that has kept this club in business is as dumb as the rugby we're currently playing. When Abbott leaves - then you'll see a real slide because the club will have no money, no benefactor.
Give your head a shake Faxhali. Totally agree with your frustrations but don't bite the hand that feeds us. Unless you've got a spare quarter of a million?

Great business model you've got there Mr. Accountant !!!
Win matches, play attractive, entertaining RL & people might just pay to watch it with or without a rich benefactor.

How did we do it before tony Abbott then ?. Martin hall and Matt Calland seemed to manage to build a team that won, increased crowds, entertained, gave us fans a roller coaster ride and an exhilarating one at that.
Abbott has put money In yes, that's it. With him on board and rhino crowds have dwindled over the seasons year on year, nothing has been done about it other than a one week gimmick of New York New York. Yet he stated public ally he would get crowds up without question, Epic fail. The job of coach should have been a interview process, not let's do what a small group of forum users want and bring rhino in.
Business is business, adapt, change or go bust. Yet we continue with same old same old. Look at Leigh I. The space of a year with a clean out at the top, now there is inspiration if ever you saw it.
To be honest I'm not sure who puts the money in or the amounts involved. I'm sure Abbott is a big contributor. I agree with all your frustrations but I was just saying I'm not sure the best thing to do is to drive away those that do put money in, otherwise we'll end up in Championship II.
Leigh seem to have spread their risk and Andy Mazey commented last week that Leigh would never again put the club in the hands of just one man. The Leigh example of what can be achieved in a short time gives me hope that all is not lost. Those running the club certainly need to increase the activity off the field or find someone else who can. First priority though must be to ensure financial safety.

Versus driving those away who put money in week in, week out, year in year out? - The fans. I get your point LR but this administration is getting it all wrong and I'd rather have a business focussed bunch who interact with their fans and have the desire to be the very best and a plan on how to achieve it. This lot alongside KH have driven 50% of the diehards away. That is my worry and I'm pretty close to having enough myself with the way this lot handle things after some of the communication I've had from them.
Never has the club been so disassociated from their fans and for me the BOD should hang their heads in shame. It feels like a closed shop all boys club who don't take any criticism well.

SOMEBODY SAID that it couldn’t be done But he with a chuckle replied That “maybe it couldn’t,” but he would be one Who wouldn’t say so till he’d tried. So he buckled right in with the trace of a grin On his face. If he worried he hid it. He started to sing as he tackled the thing That couldn’t be done, and he did it!

An interesting statement to make by Andy, what you tend to see is a cycle of a group of local businessmen gain control of a club ,then eventually one by one they leave either because they cannot manage the level of investement asked of them, or quite simply they get fed up of being outvoted on how the club should be run
So you then see one director gain control quite simply because he can afford it, then something will happen resulting in another group of businessmen coming in again , this has happened 3 times at Leigh in the last 20 years
If a seriously rich investor came through the door at Leigh, I would be very surprised if he was refused the opportunity to gain sole control
It isnt about the structure of the administration at any club, its about what they do, putting cash in is great, depending on what the money is spent on decides where you go from there on, just paying good wages to good players will work short term, but isnt sustainable, running a sports business is a lot more complicated than that
But how are we to pay for the players that bring a successful team?
Go down in defeat with some fight in your belly, play desperate rugby if & when you have to. As stated by many other posters on here ( not myself btw ) Karl has brought in solid rather than spectacular players. I can stomach losing, but not when you don't know how to shut out a winning position regularly, this has happened too many times for it to be a coincidence. The club have made some crucial decisions while Karl has been coach & i support those such as not falling into the dual reg game, going with a reserves/junior side, Karl's policy on non-foreign players. These in my view were definate & positive moves which the club disclosed publicly, they didn't have to but they did. I saw an item in the local newspaper when he moved in for Jarrod Ward who wasn't needed at Odsal, Karl described him something like "big & strong, reminds me of Michael Hancock" at the time. I notice that Jarrod & Miles Fairbank yesterday played for Gloucester All Golds, i don't have any further info for example if they've left the club or they're out on loan to get 1st team experience but the least we could be doing as a club is putting that information out there.
To be brutally honest about things, the sporting public of Calderdale appear not to be interested in supporting the RL club nowadays by turning up to matches at the Shay, the cup finals we've played in over the last few years have seen us take less than 5,000 followers, that is poor support for a town of our size. I went to the Town match on weds & for a crowd of just under 4,000 it was a cracking atmosphere & occassion by comparison.
