The "next" weekend is this weekend, they're the same. Just like if you're waiting for the "next" bus you'll be waiting for the first bus which comes along.

It comes down to personal preference, different interpretations of the use of it and areas we live. I'm not gonna get in to an argument on a rugby forum about it though, so let's leave it at that. The poster new exactly what I meant, if he/she didn't, then they do now.

Well, reading your original post I also thought you'd got confused. As we're now entering this weekend, then you can now call the weekend in a week's time the "next" weekend. Up until Thursday. Oh, and it's "knew", not "new".

There away this weekend but should be okay for next weekend, unless the next weekend is really this weekend, then it will be the weekend after.
