This is like the Widnes board a few weeks ago.It is dead now so i view this board. As i have said previously the cap needs to be a little higher for the bigger clubs in this league to dominate. Batley,Hunslet,York and other small clubs benefit, as they probably spend nearly the same amount on players. The cap probably shows who are the good and bad coaches in the league.

I expect that we will see some movement, either with Calland going or refreshing the playing squad before the end of the week; with regret, I fear the bulls are going to batter us;

I dont live in Halifax anymore, and have missed just 4 games home and away over the last 3 seasons, but the trips home down the motorways are getting longer and longer; Its a dangerous game the club are playing allowing this form to continue, some ruts are difficult to get out of, even with someone new steering the ship.

I havnt lived in the UK for several years but still follow the club avidly through match reports and what I see on here. Regular trips to the UK have allowed me to watch my bloved Fax though, so im not entirely without my fix. Even when you filter out all the guff from this forum (and there is humungous amounts) over the last couple of years its clear there have been some serious underlying issues much of which has been masked by the individual skills of several players. Tactical awareness and defensive frailties stand out like a sore thumb as others have pointed out. Now that other teams seem to have found us out, there appears to be little in the 'idea' drawer to turn things around.

Even the best coaches have their moments where teams are low on confidence, but they rarely plunge to such depths or last so long. I have never been one of the Calland out brigade, but even my confidence has diminished to new lows. I just worry if something concrete doesnt happen soon, then it may be too late.

You are missing the point 87. The wage bill was reduced to meet the cap. We are still the second best supported team in the league with the second highest turnover. Leigh and Fev have no more money to spend on players. Sheffield, Hunslet and Batley most certainly don't. Our £300K is getting us relegated or 6th place at best. Leigh's £300K is making them title contenders. What's the difference?

Millward maybe?

Widnes & Leigh get higher home attendances than us.

Chris - what do you honestly expect from this squad in 2011?

given the following; lost arguably 3 best players (Royston,Branners,Dom), all playing squad forced to take pay cut (including MC).
These actions no doubt forced upon the squad due to disastrous off season events in 2010... (sponsor, weather,CC,NRC, Stan)

The squad has been weakened (inevitably) and we will achieve top 6 at best, a couple of wins and a return to form could deliver this.

Some people are writing that "we should have kicked on from the GF".. can someone explain how when the best players have left (with good reason)??

What has MC go to do? win another GF? get real....

We will finish between 6th and 8th and that's mission accomplished, rebuild can continue in 2012.

That's got to be the best excuse I've heard for the loseing run!! Takeing a pay cut? According to your retoric ,last year we should have walked the league instead of just one dropped goal in the final game.

The players all got told to take the best offer at the end of last season, so obviously were quite happy to play for less, or they could'nt get as much elsewhere. So virtually the same playing -coaching staff as last year, the only thing to change will be, and I'm sorry to say is the size of the crowd. That is the most worrying thing to me.

Cassandra, your talking sense to me ;-)
We have a good squad, they supposedly chose to be with us, they are good enough to win the darn thing in truth, this has been the case for many years now too, Matt always comes up with a get out jail card at the last minute though, or should i say they players do for him.

I have personally had enough of it now, and it seems so have a great many of our fans, Mr Steele is in the courier reporting not even 5000 tickets have been sold for the CC, I find this embarassing considering 3000 of them were freebies to Bradford. Mr Steeles continued support for Mr Calland bewiliders me, instead of looking at scraping one GF, with a decent coach and the players we could have won the lot and been SL bound by now...

I do not blame Matt Calland anymore, he is doing a job to the best of his ability, he clearly cannot coach defence. Mr Steele seems to refuse to even acknowledge we have coaching deficiencies, and i am not sure if he would know how to go about getting a new coach. We have an infection present in our Club, act now Mr Steele before it becomes a terminal tumor.

We go through this every dam year, we have run out of jokers (barring a few on the payroll) Its time to swallow your pride Michael, admit your wrong about Matt and let the club fulfill its potential, I implore you, were on a slide now, don't let this era end in tears and another visit to HMRC. Invest in people i.e. a coach..... and do it darn quick, were full of deadwood, how did this happen.

Aye.. losing Branners, Royston and Dom hasn't impacted us at all..... the 3 outstanding players of 2010.

I admit losing those 3 players was dire but Fev lost Briggs, Hardaker etc and it hasn't impacted them this badly has it??
We still have the quality (on paper) in this squad to be above where we are in the league. Sorry but that excuse doesn't cut it with me as an explanation or excuse as to why we are playing as bad as we are currently and why we find ourselves in a relegation spot.

So we lose 3 players but add to the coaching staff. Now what does that tell you?
