Play in a RL hotbed and get decent crowds yes BUT what have they done for the French national team??? Nowt cos they are a team full of non Frenchmen. What do they do for the ENGLISH game? Nowt as they are taking up a place in OUR league. In a way they are probably hurting the game in France as what if you took say Man U or Arsenal out of the Premier League? It would lose some appeal as they are two of the major draws and have huge support.
I have nothing against them but stick to the facts please.
Whilst I agree with the cause, I agree with the others who have questioned the name of the campaign. "Hate RFL" means "Hate Rugby Football League", which I presume none of us do. Whilst some may claim to "Hate the Rugby Football League" this is highly emotive, and makes the campaign look like it is by people who are bitter and twisted, rather than having an objective concern for the future of their sport.
I appreciate the campaign has been launched, but is it not possible to reflect on the campaign title and change it to something which actually reflects the cause rather than the emotion.
I disagree but we can't agree on everything. The campaign is Hate RFL, Love P&R and on my part reflects how I and many others feel about the state of the game currently. I hate what the RFL currently stand for, the lies they feed us, how they dictate, how they change the goal posts and how they have 2 very poor figureheads running our sport. More importantly I HATE how our game is no longer a sport in the true sense with P&R. I understand the sentiment of hate can be perceived as a strong word but we need to provoke interest and a response. Our campaign isn't about us not winning a franchise, this was merely the icing on the cake. If we stand by and do nothing I fear we won't have a game to watch any more in 5 years.
Thank you for your comments, we will listen and if the consensus is that it is too strong we can change tack. I just feel we need to stand strong and ride the initial raised eyebrows.
We are doing this for the RL Family and not just Halifax RLFC.
Well done Chris & Linda, lets hope we can get other clubs behind us.
Just another thought on a title which jumped out when I read your initial post, what about a 'Spirit of 1895'
campaign. After all the reason RL came into existance was to promote fairness for all, something currently lost to the sport. Its also something fans at other clubs might be happy to buy into.
Changed the title, sounds better

Whilst I support the thinking behind the protest, I cannot support any form of protest using the word 'Hate'. It is undiplomatic, somewhat immature and could cause people not to take the protest seriously. So I won't be there as I won't associate myself or my family with any protest employing such ill-judged and ill-advised wording.
Nothing stronger than, say, "Loath the RFL, Love P & R" should be the strap line. It also has a better ring to it.
Something has to be said. Well done Chris and Linda and others great work. Sadly I cant really be of much help as I dont live in the area and I have a few other things that need sorting first. This is from us the Fans not the Club or the Board and we have nothing to lose. I do feel this goes beyond Halifax and effects everybody. The RFL have been hell bent on expanding the game but have failed and repeatedly using the same mistakes but using different events to get there way. We all know the game needs to expand but doing it by throwing money away when there is no proper Business and Management Structure is wrong. I think we the fans need to ask for a review of how the RFL have done things and what we would like to see
Maybe instead of using "Hate" and I do hate the RFL for what they have done and are doing to the game maybe we need to maybe focus more on what we want to happen, how we feel. Maybe something like
R eview = A look at the mistakes that has been made with the Licences, Expanding the game and the way the fans have been ignored F uture = We need the RFL to tell us where we are going and how we are going to get there L eadership = We feel we need a new Leadership in the RFL and change the way things are done so secretively
Review Future Leadership of RFL as they are going to kill the game the way things are not just with licences but in other areas. Maybe its better than using the word Hate which could easily be misunderstood. My English is not the best and so maybe there are other wors that could be better than the ones I have suggested
Luck is a combination of preparation and opportunity
Just to avoid confusion Starbug is the username of Steven Pike
SOMEBODY SAID that it couldn’t be done But he with a chuckle replied That “maybe it couldn’t,” but he would be one Who wouldn’t say so till he’d tried. So he buckled right in with the trace of a grin On his face. If he worried he hid it. He started to sing as he tackled the thing That couldn’t be done, and he did it!
Well done Chris & Linda, lets hope we can get other clubs behind us.

I was thinking something similar earlier as I ' mulled ' over this post
Even perhaps just something simpler like just the year
Everybody will be aware of my opinions of both the RFL and collaboration between clubs , as the RFL do as we know operate a ' divide and conquer ' policy when it come to the clubs at our level , promising everybody , delivering nothing
However it really is at boardroom level where this standing together needs to happen , to create money , as all the displays of anger will not make any great difference IMO
I really don't know what the answer is , it is very frustrating , not attending any games outside the Championships is one way of showing your displeasure , something I and others have been doing for a couple of years , we have a divivded sport , the only way out of that is money simple as

I'll try to attend next week if I can
The 'principles' thing was to re-educate the public about why the game had to break away in 1895 (beyond just broken time payments) and how it thrived on firm foundations. Fairness, openness, community spirit, collaboration, all underlying themes to the overall title. Maybe the supporters trust could trademark it
