Fax are in the Championship battling for a top 4 spot at the moment for a reason. We have fallen from grace and have not been good enough under either the franchise system or more recently under the RFL funding scheme to help a Championship club back in to SL. That's because we are not a big club anymore and whichever way you cut it are not at the same table as the likes of Fev and Leigh at this moment in time. To me that means we need, as a club, need to take a look at ourselves in the mirror and start showing and planning some clear ambition both on and off the field. Whether we like it or not we are in the entertainments industry and people want to see success and be a part of that. Our current leaders look to me to accept mediocrity. If you do that is exactly what you will get-mediocrity. That won't be good enough for next season and beyond with several full time clubs in our league. Time for a shake up in my opinion.

This is all well and good but the last time I looked, Reactiv media owned the club and they invest what they can. They are by no means a cash rich organisation, less so with recent events I suspect.

In order for a shake up at the club Reactiv gave to sell up or invest more.

The other option is the current board just walk away. Seems we can't have it any way. We have what we have!

I couldn't agree more BM. Too many times we've walked away from matches this season not only unhappy with the result/display but actually bored! Why oh why has KH reverted to his early season tactics just when we had got ourselves back in connection for 2nd and the brass that goes with it? Percy's Kelham Island Pale Rider 5.2% Mmm!

Well one good thing to come out of this year is FAX TV which has got better every week but we need a shake up of the coaching staff at least and maybe someone to come into the club with some new fresh ideas IMO

Ill go with the Fax TV comment, its got better and better ;-) Well done.
I know some people think a few of us love moaning, I can honestly say I hate it, and I honestly would love Karl to push us on, but as many have said, we have brought in some good players, his choices, and although our player budget may not be the biggest, getting the best out of what we have is all we can ask.
Its frustrating and probably an element of this is we have been in this league for 11 years, never once have we been consistent enough to top the table, that might not matter to some, but, we all want to see us doing well and its a fair yardstick. The fear is that we are sliding, and buying a golden gamble, a few beers and cheering them on isn't going to change a darn thing. Its getting the best of our players and trying to exceed expectations that are all we can hope for, we have an aging back room, no benefactor, and that's not any of their fault, its just the way it is, the coaching role therefore becomes even more critical, we must get the players performing, and we must give people some entertainment to either get them to come back or entice new fans down, and keep them. I feel bad for anyone who marketed Sunday, or told friends to come along, winning streaks mid season against sides that are not directly competing for your spot don't mean much, it's the big games that matter. I see over the next months/years The Shaymen getting bigger and bigger crowds, young kids wanting to be part of Football, FA Cup ties, Derbies etc etc and Halifax RLFC slipping further down the pecking order locally and nationally. We could have some very dark days if were not careful.

and before anyone says the 4th biggest budget and finishing 3rd is ok, is it? do we turn up on Sunday hoping the opposition is awful or do we hope to see something entertaining and the start of something special i.e. challenging for honours, money isn't everything, if it was you could dish out the silverware in February and save people a lot of effort.

Top post I agree but I can't see anybody wanting to come in sadly - hope there is somebody out there and they do come in and shake this club top to bottom and get it running properly.

To put the season in context...we are lightyears away from where we want to be and thinking about next season just makes it even more depressing. Fev and Leigh are already building on what they've got already with Bradford and especially London recruiting well for next year. What have we got? What are we doing? How many of our so-called 'stars' are contracted for next year?

You can twist it whichever way you like with bonus points and budgets etc but 3rd place is a failure. I seem to remember talk coming out from KH and the club at the start of the season that top 2 had to be done. If we're not careful we could finish 4th. How is that a success?
Simply put, the squad we've got handpicked by our coach where player against player in other sides we should have been top 2 easily, challenging Leigh for top. Before the season started it was always going to be a transitional year for Fev. Powell leaving and taking Finn with him and Bastian putting his stamp on things was always going to take time to adjust. Then Bastian getting sacked and Hay taking over a Powell/Bastian side makes that adjustment even longer. We should have been rubbing our hands with glee! But no.

The most important Fax game at the Shay for God knows how many years and we barely scrape 3,000. Take the travelling support out of the equation and there's 2,500 to be generous. Yes, that might be an increase on our usual, ever decreasing gate but for a club as big as some of our fans and the officials claim we are and the so-called 'ambition' we have it's poor. You can try all the tricks and offers in the book to get the fans in, great hospitality, entertainment etc, but if the product on the pitch is poor and/or boring it all falls down. The excitement to go watch Fax now has gone flat.

I used to think Halifax was a sleeping giant of Rugby League, we were a few years back, but now we're just sleeping. I dread to think what the attendance for the Barrow game after the Fev debacle, especially if we get beat by Doncaster. Harrison has had 3 seasons of HIS team and apart from one game at Blackpool we have been nowhere near.
