It's not Sheffield's fault. Times are hard and I would definately want to play on Sunday if I were them.
Rich,
Good luck to getting any money out of the shared gate at Sheffield.
When they played Widnes early in the season at Bramall Lane there was 1831 there however in the play-offs last week the attendance was 1029, now I'm sure that there was less Widnes fans than for the league game, but also suspect that there was more Sheffield fans. The week before that there was 1147 for the York game. so if you assume that there is about a core of 1000 Sheffield fans plus say 300 Widnes fans (and likely to have been more) plus a few for the play-off game you'd have thought a gate of 1500-1600 would have been more realistic.
When they played you earlier in the season there was 1280 in attendance, and I'm guessing you'll take more to this play-off game than you did to the league game, and I'm sure that there will be more Sheffield fans than that game plus one or two neutrals at the game so you might expect a crowd of say 1600-1800, so I'll guess at a gate of 1031. and after the hire of Bramall Lane I can't see you getting much out of the shared gate.
To me all shared gate games (not just Sheffield) seem to have "smugged" gates which I think is a shame to be honest.
Anyway good luck to Halifax against the de-dars, and even though I do have a slight soft spot for Sheffield due to the fact that I work in the steel city, I'd like to see fax win since I like to see all the "traditional" clubs do well. And as I told MM earlier in the season I still fully expect to see a Fev v Fax final since fate has a way of sorting things out that way and sticking two fingers up at you!
