The article stated that it was only with the nod of the RFL. But where were the RFL when other clubs breached the cap? How come they're holding Havens hand? I can tell this word expansion is gonna royally hack me off in the coming years!

And it can also be revealed that salary cap concerns were a factor in cuts to players’ contract payments earlier this season.

I wonder if this is also the reason for their form on the pitch?

“Because of increased sponsorship revenue and the players’ contract reductions, we are within the salary cap, now,” added Beaty, who attended the RFL meeting with Alistair Dunlop, the club’s new commercial manager.

Mr Dunlop said "I was tyred of rubber cheques and inflated ego's. the players were deflated and they had to get a grip as we are all under pressure. We all need to pump it up for the rest of the season".

1) auditing the books at the end of the year, and issuing fines and points deductions as appropriate

2) maybe because this is the first year of the 'live' salary cap system

So much so that I repeated the experience on Friday, though with a different outcome
