Whats the future for the Pro game? : Sun May 08, 2011 8:18 pm  

I must admit I am losing my love for the game not because of what happens at Fax, but the idiots who run our game. We have had again Leigh and Fax push SL clubs very close on a fraction of the money the SL clubs are allowed to waste/Spend. Yet its very unlikely these two clubs and others like Barrow and Fev are going to get a chance in SL in the next few years. It just seems that Fax (as well as others) are being held back and basically not allowed to grow whilst SL clubs just do what they want including going into Administration and owing people money left right and centre.
Why do we have the Bonus Points System and SL not? Why do certain clubs get favoured over others? I just had enough of the BS within Rugby League. We have people who are supposed to be helping develop the game, who are only interested in their bank Balance and Ego. I just fail to see a good future for the game outside of SL and am slowly getting like many other Championship fans who support their team but are fed up with the game itself.

I still enjoy watching Fax. Probably always will. The hard part is increasing the gate - getting new fans. Not much to shout about down in this league though - apart from winning the GF. A mate of mine used to go regularly and went to last years' GF. Said it was the best buzz he'd had for ages. Hasn't watched a game this season though. He's too busy doing other stuff - he's just not interested anymore. We're competing with other stuff in an entertainment-mad world. Competition is tough.

The only solution is to get new young fans aged under 10 years old , problem is that this costs a lot of money and you don't get any sizeable return for years , you have to ' hit ' large numbers in the hope you will hook a small percentage , then over years ( decades even ) your fan base will grow , well the actual ' paying ' fan base will grow

I am just so frustrated that we are being held back by the RFL. We cant compete to sign our local lads because we arent allowed in to SL. We cant build a team to even try and get into SL and we now have a cap set to help the small teams and do nothing to help us at all. We have a system in place where in the Cup which sees us lose out on a fair bit of money. We see expansion clubs helped out and promoted over us unfairly. I love Fax but I am so disillusioned with the way the game is going. The latest idea is for the RRFL to push clubs from Coventry, Nottingham etc in to the Pro League and franchise our League-So we have no more Promotion and Relegation just a load of friendlies. Just what is the point?

The game is in a right old state in my opinion.
SL is a boring product, so predictable to watch, the NL's can't compete financially.

The best rugby I watch nowadays is amateur & juniors. I've really enjoyed watching Halifax's score at every play type over the last few seasons, but not many teams play in such a cavalier way anymore, far too structured for my liking.

I agree mate, its like I am a Halifax RLFC fan but no longer a RL fan, they have alienated the hardcore support at grassroots level.

For a long time now , I have considered myself a Championship RL supporter , I do still watch amateur games when I get the chance and as SL is part of my SKY contract , but as for actually supporting SL or anything the RFL do ( including the RL WC ) , then nope , nowt do wi me

I think most fans are hacked off by the way the games run

Best course of action is to aim for the very best at our level and hope that changes in our favour eventually happen
