The men in charge of our sport - who are they? : Wed Jul 27, 2011 11:28 pm
In the wake of the latest 'controversies' that appear to have angered many involved in our sport - from players, to fans, to club chairmen, isn't it time that we examine the credentials and CV's of the men from the RFL charged with crucial decision making and the future of RL in this country.
What has Nigel Wood ever achieved in this sport, and what background can he boast that makes him a suitable high-level administrator?
Who is this Ralph Rimmer guy? What makes him suitable for the position he occupies? I'm aware he was involved with the Huddersfield Giants, but what elevated him to his current position of power?
And finally, to Mr.Lewis. Formerly involved with the sport of tennis, what achievements in that environment afforded him his role at the pinnacle of UK Rugby League?
This isn't an attack on their abilities, by the way. I'd just like to know how appropriate their occupation of key positions within this sport really is.

After watching Wood's performance on boots n all tonight, I think we can attack his abilities. The man refused to answer any questions. Snd repeated parrot fashion mantras which were begging for someone to poke holes through. Apparently, you can't kick a team out or deny them a license based purely on an administration. Oh, remind me, what was the single reason we were knocked back last time?

It was like watching an exceedingly bad politician fumble his way through questions he wasn't allowed to answer truthfully. Proof if any were needed that they have learned nothing from their mistakes and haven't changed one iota. Incompetent lying fools.

Ralph Rimmer, in charge of Sheffield, under his charge, the club entered into financial difficulties so merged with Huddersfield - FAIL

Richard Lewis - Resigned from his position of the British tennis association after their Davis cup team became one of the lowest ranked in the world - FAIL

Nigel Wood - Under his control, nearly sent Halifax to the wall with spiraling debts with the sale of Thrum Hall covering the debt rather than been spent on decent players. His legacy left us with one of the worst SL squads in history in 2003. -FAIL

So Wood and Rimmer have ruined clubs and Lewis ruined GB tennis and now they have ruined the integrity and dignity of our sport.

Oh hali hali hali hali halifax

Let's not forget also. When Lewis was in charge of british tennis he kept players who regularly failed to perform, improve or work hard to reach desired levels, on central contracts, earning good money.

Rewarding mediocrity and lack of improvement for want of not rocking the boat seems to be a Lewis forte!

He's as weak and lilly livered as he looks

So Wood and Rimmer have ruined clubs and Lewis ruined GB tennis and now they have ruined the integrity and dignity of our sport.

In essence yes, Richards Lewis in particular knows nothing of the sport from a grass roots heartland perspective.
He has most likely never paid to watch a game of Rugby League in his life and certainly not supported the game travelling hundreds of miles, attending games home and away in snow, rain etc and when was the last time any of the others did any of this.

There can be no emphathy hence how can they take the holistic view that they claim when they have little or no understanding.

BS comes to mind.

Bull s##t.
And
Balance sheets.

That's it.

To be fair to Ralph, he was at Huddersfield as they became a solid super league side, can't remember exactly what position he held, He then became CEO KSDL who wrun the Galpharm Stadium, may well have been him who negotiated the Galpharm Sponsorship...

no one in the rfl is good enough to take the sport forward, they are all failures and basically took the highest paying job they could get, and at the time we where very desparate,
wish there was some way of a vote of no- confidence or sumthing similar,
the rfl needs a massive massive change now

As long as Hetherington doesn't get the job. We'll be back to square one.

The stuff he says - he's already lining himself up!

FAILURE ISN'T ABOUT FALLING DOWN, FAILURE IS STAYING DOWN..........

I bet they went through some loo roll at Red face, sorry Red Hall on monday when Rod Findlay's e-mail landed informing of their withdrawal !

They would have had far less flak if Crusaders hadn't withdrawn & they had a straight decision to make between the two licences of Wakey & Fax.
Given that the media were locked out of Wakey's HQ for the announcement, their players allegedly already signed up at different SL clubs for next season & beyond etc etc

I firmly believed that we wouldn't have got in this time around again as I've stated on here many times, but given the straight choice between us & Wakey and the debacle that has been Crusaders for the last four, five, six years it's the manner in which we've been rejected that's bothered me. The people running our game have once again cast seriously dark shadows over it's very existence once again.
