Could you see the RFL doing this with Bradford???
No they will put them in SL end of story, at least football have the bottle to punish clubs that go bust and start up again as a new company so technically a new club.
They did it with FC Halifax Town, Chester and Scarborough FC plus lots more clubs who have done this.
Why should a NEW club be allowed to take the place of the old club?

Bradford should go down to Championship 1 and start again if they reform. The Scots have been bold enough to do it to Rangers who are a huge club and compared to Bradford this is a bigger decision that they made as Rangers dwarf Bradford in every department.

I agree although

Power was given to the Scottish clubs to decide Rangers fate

First vote was given to the SPL clubs to decide if the newco Rangers would be allowed to play in the SPL. Rangers needed at least 8 - 4 in their favour. vote was 10 - 2 (2 being rangers and another club who didn't vote).

Would be very interesting to see how the SL clubs would vote if put in the same situation.


Once the SPL clubs voted against it was then given to the football league clubs to decide their fate ie first or third division.

In the unlikely event SL clubs voted Bradford out I really couldn't imagine the RFL giving us that same vote ie To put Bradford in NL1

I read somewhere (Think it was the bulls forum) that even if SL clubs voted the RFL would have the final decision

London would definately vote them out since Bulls did this to London a few years ago. I think most SL clubs would want them in though for revenue purposes but some would want assurances regarding the way forward and the future of franchising.

New entities happen quite often.

Nobody suggested that Featherstone should reapply when they transferred the business from a members club to an incorporated company. Nor should they have.

The Rangers decision will cost the Scottish game £15.7m. Most of the burden of that loss will fall on players who don't earn anything out of the ordinary.

Those who made the decision - the chairmen - will, no doubt, continue to collect their fat pay cheques from business interests outside the game, whilst preaching to their players about tightening their belts.

Whatever punishment that is given to Bradford will set the precedent for any future financial problems in SL, if they remain in SL, then it basically means no club will ever have its licence revoked, is that a healthy system to have?

The financial parameters are too weak. For example, clubs shouldn't be able to include loans from directors in salary cap income. If directors want to sponsor the team or give the money to the club in some other way, I don't think you can stop them, but a loan is not income, it's a debt.

And very clearly, the policing of the rules we have is just not rigorous enough.

No, not for them anyway. The bottom half of that table will stagnate like a students washing up bowl - same clubs not moving anywhere. Let them rot. For us down here, got to stop getting sidetracked with Stupid League. Got to grab our own competition by the scruff of the neck and try to increase its profile, fan base and income. We can start by getting rid of that stupid TV deal "negotiated" by the RFL. They have to be the worst pimps in the world - giving away their wares for free. Crazy.
