Well I am normally a glass half empty type of a bloke even when we are winning, but having seen our boys in action over the last 4 games I can honestly say I think we will not be looking for a drop goal to win it in Blackpool but will put the Fax to the sword.

Hunslet yesterday and a sterner test in Batley next week will give us the ideal build up for Blackpool,so enjoy the weekend or day Fax fans and may the best team win. And I am sure we will

Lets face it Fev will start the game as massive favorites and should really win the game at a canter considering the form that they are in. The only thing that could sway it in our favour is Fev`s tendency to choke in big games against us. Another deciding factor could be us having what should be a relatively easy run out against Hunslet and Fev having a potentially tough game against Batley. Throughout the season when this has happened the team with the really tough game has struggled the week after.

All that said we go to the final not expecting to win and with no pressure on us at all so as Fans we can go and just have a good day out and not have to worry about expectations.

The last i saw the bookies were giving Fax 8 start which is probably about right on recent form, not that that will mean a lot. If i was a coach which im not i would prefer a tough game before a big game because it keeps you switched on and your body tuned to playing tough Rugby league. As for choking in big games surely the game at the shay the other week was big game, especially considering the league leaders pick up 30k

Can't see Fev choking in this one, DP will have them ready and focused. Our line speed needs to be very quick, we need to get in the face of Finn/Ellis and make Fev have to change their game like we did at POR. You give them the space to work with and they'll destroy us.

In attack I'd like to see us do more of what we did on Sunday - although very inconsistent and sketchy - we threw the ball around and exploited the flanks fairly well. But also we really need to incorporate some moves and basic running lines into our game, overlapping players, inside runner etc. We did it a lot in previous seasons and it's so blooming effective.

Anyway, there's my gameplan! :D

I'm not sure you did - we didn't have owt to change that day. Wafting arms at opposition players as they breezed thru our line is NOT on the game plan!!

That day was an unfathomable occurence the like of which I haven't seen for 3 years in this league. I think our wins v Leigh n Fax are nearer the Fev that I've seen over the last 3 years.

If you can get in our half backs faces, and you can put some pressure on our forrads, it will make for a very interesting game.

Bookies have fev -8 which as ging dong says means nowt, but is about how I look at it the way we are playing. The only rider is that "IF" there is a team at this level that can stumble across a way to 'do' us, then it's likely to be Fax.

Re: Wrestling in Blackpool : Tue Jul 17, 2012 11:13 am
Fev are obviously favourites in this one. However, just over three weeks ago, Leigh were 22 16 down against Fev and pressing near their line with two minutes to go. The Batley quarter final game that we won 32 12 just five days before took a hell of a lot out of us, but we still ran them very close. You will have had a much easier, more low key game. Now despite Leigh playing you three times this year and beating you in each one, I still think you are similar in standard. If you can keep in the game like we did, in a final you have a good chance with a big crowd behind you, the underdog tag spurring you on and the adrenaline pumping. If you are sub standard like we were at POR, then obviously you will be absolutely thrashed, as Fev are a good side and when they sense you are vulnerable, are the best in this league at ruthlessly exploiting your weaknesses. The neutral venue will obviously be better for you than playing at POR. IMO, a narrow win is within your capabilties, if you are on your game. The comments Harrison made post-match at the Shay, whether we agree or disagree with them, will also not have done you any harm IMO. Can you attack with more flair, like you did under Calland and defend much tighter than you did against Swinton? I am sure you will in a final. Should be a cracker for the neutral.

I think 16-18 would probably be a fairer reflection to be fair as you really are that far in front of us at the moment. Personally I see Semi finals and Finals as bigger games than League games and Im pretty sure all players feel the same. If Fev start to choke once again we might get near them but I have a feeling they will rid themselves of the chokers tag in this one.

That's just about as I see it and couldn't have posted better.

As the two sides are at the mo I would go for Fev by 16 but as RFF says Fax are a team that can do the unexpected.
Let's hope it a cracker but whatever happens with the result have a good day out everyone and let's be determined to show what the Championship has to offer. :thumb:
