this season just gets better. waiting for a relaxation in SL criteria which now will state got to have winding up order in last 5 years.

We need another statement from Maurice Watkins before people start panicking.

"Everything is grand. One year to the World Cup where British Rugby League will be showcased to the whole world. Surely by now the RFL can change it so no Super league club has to pay taxes.

They have changed just about everything else.

What about rugby league gaining charity status, for the first few years they can falsify the books to make it "appear" they tick all the boxes.

The following few years they can simply add or omitt any box as they see fit to maintain the illusion.
Shouldn't be too difficult after all they have plenty experience of "Seeming" to meet "The Criteria".

What about the twin club intitiative where the lower club has to pay the SL clubs tax.
The lower clubs with not having a great deal of income themselves would not have as much to pay.

Any residual liabilities would fall on Mr Small Club totally protecting Mr Big Club.

That way with Mr Small Clubs identity allready being wiped out no one would know that it was another rugby league club bringing shame on the sport
especially as this would contribute to them being sent into oblivion even quicker.

Come on RFL keep up and make it happen you know it doesn't make sense.

Salford are already there - have borrowed heavily from the Reds Charity that they set up for the Salford community.

As a supporter of both rugby codes it does make you wonder if professional rugby is viable. The ongoing problems at the Bulls , Salford , Wakefield and others is well known . In R.U when England's most successful club , Leicester can post a seven figure loss then you've got problems. Only two premiership clubs - Northampton and Gloucester make a profit. In Wales all the regions are struggling while the provinces in Ireland get pretty decent handouts from the IRFU. Both codes have benefactors supporting a number of clubs - what would happen to the Giants , Wigan , Bath , Saracens if they all walked away. Harlequins have announced that just relying on spectators is not enough - they want to generate more money commercially than through gate receipts - easier said than done in testing economic times. So whats the answer ? Keep costs under control , bring through the youngsters , do not depend on expensive overseas players etc . But its a difficult one isn't it?
