Imagine the quality of the rest of our players if we had 8 players that didnt contribute towards the cap. This really is becoming a reserve league, we used to see SL clubs as our competitors, not our feeders...

One implication is that it could easily produce unbalanced results that effect the outcome of the competition.

York and the other teams that have entered into this arrangment could field a side that varies vastly in strength from week to week depending on how many of the players from Super League clubs are included.

It will be down to sheer chance who gets to play against the stronger or weeker side.

In reality though you can still only field 5 duals so not a huge difference to the 4 of previous years.

The 'top' sides aren't getting involved in it anyway, so at least it should do something to close the gap between the top 6/7 and the rest of the league.

The plan is that you can only become eligible to apply for SL from this year and York are going to sweep the lot, along with one of the other dual regged to the hilt teams.
As Nigel will be saying, I love it when a plan comes together.

on the hull board,one fan names 7 players on DR to york,another fan name another 3 on DR to york, and another fan names a player thats on a season long loan to york.I dread to think what this league is going to be like in a couple of year, when they've developed this plan futher.

Apart from the fact that more and more clubs are now involved from what was the case in previous years which will have a greater impact.

Leigh, Halifax, Featherstone and Sheffield have all had duals in the past yet look unlikely to have any this season, while the other clubs have all had them previously and it's an addition of only one extra player. I'm not the least bit keen on the 'partnerships' but talk of Hunslet or York et al suddenly winning the league because they've got one extra dual player doesn't quite stack up to me.

Next season will give us an indicator of what effect it will have.

I don't think it will be Hunslet or York winning the league.

It'll be the same top four as last year. Trust me.

And even if it's not - league positions don't matter. It's the play-offs that count.
