We're not playing in a $uperleague reserve league, are we ?

The opposition can only have five of their 17 players from the partner club. It's likely they'll have less than that.

Let's keep the discussion sensible.

I thought York had registered 7 players from Hull FC as Dual Reg players, most of them were young lads and a couple may have been on the fringe of the first team.

I did see that the entire Widnes squad with the exception of Hock and players requiring work permits were to be DRed with Workington.

Is it an advantage though, how many are going to regularly train with the other team, and from a coaches point of view is it ideal, How can you get a settled team.

How will the players feel at clubs in our league too, some fringe players may never get a look in because the regular first teamer has been dropped to the bench (whos also now upset) because Johnny Big Boots is available from the twinned club this week

It neither harms nor benefits the game - imho.

Not knowing who's available does not help the coach of the junior partner club - again, imho.

I just don't see this as a big deal.

The original DR concept was 2/3 juniors tied to the Championship club for a season to aid development, then it became 4/5 , then announced as 5 from 8 , now its 5 from the whole squad , so it has been a slow creeping extension from junior development to the situation now where senior players will be able to use the Championships to regain fitess and form

I predict inside 3 years we will see SL running 1 st stage junior development at U 18s and 1 st team, with their ' twinned ' Championship club running a 2 nd stage junior developmet at U 20s and a 1 st team but their playing squad being 20 loaned SL 19/20 yr olds, 5 or more DR and only half a dozen on their own players

Since when has any of this been to help the junior partner club?

If you think having 2/3rds of a Championship competition comprising feeder clubs isnt a big deal, you really dont understand what the long term implications for all Championships clubs will be

Junior partners enter into it voluntarily. They, at least, must think it of benefit.

You dont get it do you? , for all clubs to prosper, including Sheffield, Leigh, Featherstone, Halifax and Keighley, we need a strong competition not comprising junior development / warm up teams, you weaken the competition, you weaken every club in that competition

Yes those clubs entering into this will benifit from lower costs, but it isnt lower costs that we need, its more income, we will only get that if the whole competition is seen by its customers as strong, growing and independant

Do the likes of Leeds,W1g4n,Hull,Saints,Warrington want Salford, Wakey, Cas and London to become stronger or weaker?
