As with the defeat last week at Leigh, the Fax boys second half performance appeared to be be better than the first half last night from what i understand. Losing something like 34 nil last night at the break, the first 22 mins or so of the 2nd half the boys stood firm & didn't concede and severly tested the Fev side's resolve in defending at the same time. Patience is required i.m.o. as RFF commented several times during last night's match there was a definate difference in size & physique and i would add experience to his comments.
On the plus side ( ex-coach me.... ) the Fev lads haven't apparently had such a long period of not scoring in any game this season, so in true Ross Strudders fashion, well done lads ! We did appear to cop a few injuries too last night though.
Oh, & i'm lead to believe by our in-house reserves "statto-man" that we had more sets of possession than Fev in the 2nd half. I see this as a massive positive when you've been knocked about for 40mins by a team that's been thwacking all-comers this season & are the current champions at this level, it would be easy for any team to simply roll over but I saw pride last night. And quite frankly recently in the games I've watched, I reckon we've run at about 50% completion rate so plusses abundance in defeat in my book from last night.
It was also a great craic sat with Lee Jackson & Brendan Hill reminiscing after the game for half an hour or so
