Neil's Notes v Whitehaven : Mon Jul 08, 2013 9:07 am
At last a home game after 2 months and another 50 points. It took however a last kick through after the hooter sounded, another kick and juggle before going over by the posts. Well done Craig Ashall who had his best game for some time and in fact got the 3rd place vote and 1 point in the Shay Lounge Player of the Season. Way ahead in the voting was Anthony Thackeray who picks up the 3 points and now leads on 14 , 2 points ahead of Scott Murrell on 12 with the nearest challenges on 6, Rob Worrincy who got 2nd place yesterday and Sam Barlow who did not play. With the bad news on Scott's hand injury the rest of the chasing pack need to pick up some points to stop Anthony.Talking of Scott what a nice thing to do early in the game to put a very large divet back on the East Stand touch line.
It will take time for the new surface to get bed in. Well done Scott.
Next up is the game we have been waiting for on Thursday night when we play Featherstone. A win will put us back up to 2nd. A pity it is not on the original Sunday date as we could have expected a bumper gate similar to the 3500 Featherstone got when we played them.As this is the 2nd season our home game with Featherstone has been changed for TV mayber next year they will pick Feathersones home game
Club 1873 winners yesterday were Winifred Drummond, no 64 who picks up the £25 voucher and Martin Ward , no 105 with the £20 voucher.
The Hitman award sponsored by Halifax RLFC Players Ass was once again won by Dane Manning. Hope he is sharing the winners pack of beer as he has now won 5 times. Might be a try saving tackle to win the game on Thursday which would justly win the award.
Well done to the young lady on winning the New York, Big Apple Day draw. The winning ticket was number 0342.
The regular half time draw winning number was 5006 who won £201.
A final thanks to the Venue who are the new caterers for the Stadium and the review of drinks prices. It brought back one or two regulars who we had not seen for some time after the game. A big thank you to all those who have continued to support the Shay Lounge bar under the South Stand during the time of the previous caterers.
