The work on the pitch was done earlier this year, that's why we had to play a month away from home.

Story in brief:
We would like to take this opportunity to update you on recent development at the Shay Stadium over the past 6 week period by Calderdale Council.
Ground & Stadium
Pitch: The pitch has undergone essential renovations and is establishing itself well now in preparation for the fixtures that are timetabled in July. The final course of fertiliser has now been applied to give the surface a final boost this week prior to competitive fixtures. With regard to the size of the pitch we will be lengthening the playing area, we are hoping to increase play surface size to 95 metres and the in-goal area to 7 metres. This would provide a 5 metre increase in pitch size.
North Stand: The development of the stand is entering its final stages with the work undertaken thus far making a positive improvement to the aesthetics of the stadium bowl. We will be having our penultimate project update meeting early next week with the contractor to look at the remaining items awaiting completion.
Drainage Improvements: A number of developments have taken place since April 2013 to improve the pitch drainage. The work undertaken includes:
· The soak away drainage chamber in the south east corner has been connected to a mains drain.
· Tarmac and a drainage gulley laid to further promote drainage in the areas surrounding the south east corner of the pitch.
· We are now awaiting the installation of a sump pump in the chamber which will automatically pump away high levels of water.
· The guttering on the front of the West Stand is currently being replaced.
In addition, we are looking to connect all the down pipes from the West Stand to the mains drain in the south west corner of the ground. Currently, the down pipes run under the pitch as part of the former pitch drainage system.
Tickets - I tried to order some for the East stand but all I was offered was the end 2 sections by the North stand. Booked some in the South stand and my numbers are 1260s. Maybe a decent crowd !!
