The next programme fair to be organised by the Rugby League Collectors' Federation will be held on Saturday morning 12th October at the South Leeds stadium in Hunslet. It starts arond 10.30 and will be followed at 12.30 with an auction of 182 items. Everybody is welcome to attend what is always a very sociable event.

Shame we can't have these in Halifax any more - they used to be very well attended at both Thrum Hall and The Shay. Still, Hunslet not too far away.

Andrew, for many years i've considered off-loading my programmes but i wouldn't want ripping off in the process. There's quite a lot of stuff needs separating from the bulk for example games my dad officiated in, autographed stuff, Cawoods game, cup finals, internationals, benefit brochures etc etc that i'd like to hang onto.

Any advice for me please ?

What's the reason for not been able to hold them in Halifax?

Re advice Colin, possibly once you've stripped out what you want to keep, what's left might not be worth very much I'm afraid. There isn't much of a market for old programmes these days, as there are not many collectors around. Most of the people at Hunslet today were my age and above, and there isn't much in terms of programmes they haven't already got. New, current season, "big match" programmes like cup finals sell well, other than that it's pre-1950 stuff that people want.

As for fairs in Halifax, the cost of hiring a room at The Shay from Calderdale Council is prohibitive. And not sure they would work at another venue, especially from the point of view of fans travelling from other clubs.
