England v Yorkshire Feb 23rd 1889 : Sun Mar 16, 2014 7:33 pm
No I was not there but Neil Greenwood said the "umpire" was rubbish.I was lucky enough yesterday to be lent a programme for the above game together with one from "County Football Match" which was what Rugby League was called in 1887, Cheshire v Yorkshire. Both games played at Halifax
I also have a photo taken after the game in 1887 of J Dodd Halifax, who played that day for Yorkshire, together with an unnamed player.
I can not re lend them to anyone but if you are interested, pm me with your email address and I will send you a copy.
I should point out that when I say programme, the items are playing card size when closed and open up to just 3 pages, the home team, the menu for the dinner and the away team.
Both dinners were at the White Swan Hotel, I take it "The Venue" was full that day.
Pm me if you wish, they have to go back next weekend.
