Correct pre-match preparation. : Tue Mar 25, 2014 12:33 pm
I'm surprised nobody has mentioned on here the comments former referee & later referee's boss Stuart Cummings' made in his weekly column in one of the weekly trade papers this week in response to a question he was responding to, asking if he had any regrets in his refereeing career, specifically because it involves a particular Halifax fixture that he reffed in what he considers now that he was under-prepped for. He sent off the wrong Halifax player in a heavy defeat versus Wigan.Quite topical that this week it cropped up & top FA premier league referee Andre Marriner commits the same mis-judgement in the Chelsea v Arsenal high profile game last saturday. I heard comments about mr Mariners' pre-match travel schedule on skysports news this morning that quite frankly were ridiculous, but it just goes to prove with Cummings' admission how prepared everyone needs to be & the pressures that come with these officiating roles.
I heard that a Castleford spectator entered the field of play to remonstrate with Jamie Childs who'd refereed their loss at Salford as the players & officials left the field at full time & Wakey coach Richard Agar also had issues with their referee in the home loss to Saints receiving a visit to his dressing room from current referee's boss Steve Ganson with the suggestion that it was to give Tim Roby a good ol' fashioned telling off for the way he'd performed in the first half of that game.
Aussie style two onfield refs anyone ?
