And for those of you who continue to berate young referee's or the standards that they're plying their trade at, you ought to get down Siddal, Elland or Ovenden & watch some of the conference games played in front of much bigger crowds than many reserve grade fixtures in professional stadiums where the crowds are right on top of you & every word shouted can be heard. Many of the players are former pro academy lads who've been released, some clubs even paying their players more than what academy lads earn, so there's some real fire & determination flying around and the standard is often much higher and intense than U20's, that's a very tough grounding for all concerned in my opinion, but the academy refs have to come through this level to get any higher in their own pathways.
