Both clubs have been deducted 3 points from the RFL. Looks like relegation for the Batley bulldogs and Doncaster to finish 4th. I know there is 3 games to play still but can't see Batley doing all 3. A absolute disaster for them now. Income will drop through the floor with gate receipts, the squad will be jumping for any job they an get in this league now. Total rebuild coming up.

How do they both end up with the same punishment? Batley won their game by using an ineligible player where as Donny lost theirs, shouldnt Batley now only get the 3 points they won wiped out but also get another 3 on top of that?

Same crime - same punishment. I think it fair, deducting Batley more wouldn't be a consistent approach.

Fair point GFB but surely the punishment is for the crime, you rob a bank and nick 5 grand or 50 then you'll probably get the same as you've robbed a bank either way. Though I am not a lawyer so will no doubt be proved wrong on that.

But it raises the point, what if we put a team of ineligible players out this weekend and beat Featherstone black and blue. They dont get any points, we get three which then get taken off us but we are still one point ahead. All we have to do is win the remaining two games and we are 2nd.

I suspect fielding a whole team of ineligible players (and hence being quite deliberate about it) would attract a penalty rather higher than 3 points!
