Just got back and to be fair although I expected a score line like that I don't think Rovers were twice as good as Fax on the day.
No Tyrer, Brachek or Johnston and we lost Saxton in the warm up and Fieldhouse in the second minute so any pre arranged game plan went out of the window.
Where Fev were better was with decision making and set completion, we put too much ball down with wayward passing and when we had some field position let them out of their half with a couple of daft penalties.
we haven't played well all year, and today was no exception. 2 poor teams out there today. Fax' injuries took their toll on the final result. You live to fight on but I'm not betting against Dews beating you next week.

Mistakes and penalties. I've woken up sweating in't middle of the night for the last five years or so with that in my head. Nowt changes. Sportsman shudds. Butcombe Rare Breed 3.8% Mmm!
Yep, we panicked in the second half. Conceding the try at the end of the first half and going in 16-12 instead of 16-6 was a killer. As was losing Tommy in the warm-up and Ryan in the 1st five minutes. Jonno and Tyrer might have given a better balance to the team as well.
Good conversation with the Fev fans behind the sticks, and hope we can turn over Dewsbury and return to do a better job next time.
I sense more purpose and true camaraderie in the team, but maybe too late to make a difference this season. The players seem to be really behind Scott, but undoing a season's worth of Plan A only may be a bridge too far.
As an aside, I was convinced that Tonka managed to get the ball to touch the try line towards the end of the 1st half. Anyone directly in line have an opinion?
Oh, and the rule where you can knock on from a kick off as long as you have a toe over the dead ball line is a nonsense. If he'd caught the ball properly, then he would have been in play - and the ball would have landed in play. We need to change that rule.
Bit of a drubbing again today, where do we go from here ?
Season's end anyone...
Certainly for Fieldhouse I would think. Should we have had a penalty, if not how did we get the scrum? And regrettably for me too. Off to France for two weeks fully intended to return for the Final. Don't hold out much hope. As Robin says below, two poor teams today, I don't think early injuries helped but, doubt they influenced the result. We were dreadful in the second half, not necessarily a criticism, Fax gave everything in the first half and just couldn't get enough points on the board. For me credit to them all, yes a poor result but none could have given more. Robbo tackled every thing that moved and like the others was clearly done in at the end. The final try said it all, a kick through, past Scott and he hadn't the energy even to chase, he simply put his hands on his knees and knew no one was going to stop the score. Again, not criticising, very proud of them all for their effort, just too late to change the style of play. Knowing the incoming coach so well I know we will do better next year.

John , I hope Penky can sort it out for you next season .

Sparky, standing on the 20, I can confirm Tonka did touch the try line, but can also say our second try was forward. Swings and?
