We think that ours are poor but Batley v London att:-341 was shocking. How do they carry on with such a lack of interest?

It was a shame too as money was being donated to Danny Jones fund on a per attendee basis.

Nonetheless this is the future of teams at the third level (Batley not London - I now sadly regard them as a makeweight in the Championship) In a sport that is so badly run at the top, clubs at this level will not get fans out for unimportant games on odd nights, especially when the bbq's are on.

If it were not for the hard work, and financial commitment of our BOD's, Fax's position would be similar. To get fans through the gate you have to invest in players that can attract them. That is why those clubs who fail to win decent prize money in the new Championship set up, and have no one willing to spend big, are in a circle of medicoracy and decline- Batley are already there.

1 st thing I thought when the increased funding for the 4 clubs this year was announced was how it would effectively move the gap from between SL and the Championship into the Championship itself , since then I've argued that one way or another they ( RFL ) need to find enough cash to enable the rest of the Championship to move to full time playing squads

This might involve further reducing of the number of the clubs in the top 2 tiers ( my preference would be a 10 SL , and a 10 team full time Championship with P and R between them , with 2 regional conferences ' north / South ' below that ) , which would probably put both Leigh and Fax somewhere in the middle of the second tier with both P and R a possibility depending on how our teams perform in any given season

I agree with Howard and respect his experience of not only business but sporting administration, but...., i feel we could all do more ourselves by engagement and insight into being part of something that first of all requires vision, cash is pretty much king but the foundations need to be right, and make no mistake Halifax has one of the best RL foundations in the RL world, its amateur sides and pedigree are something to be proud of, one of our failures has been to NOT maximise this ground base of people who actually like RL, and this is not always something that can be equated to Finance. If my numbers came up in the lottery however, I would welcome Howard on my board to tether my enthusiasm into pounds, shillings and pence, and not pure ego or emotion. Theres more firstly we can do that costs nothing.

Well said JTBF.

I pride myself in having playing against and for many teams from Halifax and the fact that we have some of the best amateur teams in the country is a proud talking point.

Contentious once here but my experience is that Siddal in particular have a specific distrust and dislike of our club due to previous "improper conduct and treatment of upcoming talent".

Let's pull together and make this club GREAT again. SOMEHOW.
