Nei's Notes v Sheffield : Mon Jul 06, 2015 7:57 am
Well that's 6 straight wins on the trot with 5 of them away and with 3 of those wins against teams around us it has kept our top 4 hopes very much alive. Once again yesterday going 6 behind early on did not effect us as we grew in confidence both in attack and defence which at times having to defend our line for consecutive sixes. We made more unforced errors than normal but so did Sheffield which did not help with the heavy downpour and can I say a velvet like playing service. Let us hope the work on the pitch will at last give a good dry playing service. The Shay Lounge Man of the Match went to Dane Manning who takes the 3 points, closely followed in second by Ben Johnston with 2 and third Steve Tyrer with one. Dane was presented with a bottle of Champagne by our sponsors BeanBagSports. He is getting quite good at interviews now and spoke of the confidence in all the team.
James Saltonstall still leads in the season long competition on 11 points followed by Ben Johnston on 8 with 3 players Luke Ambler, Dane Manning and Scott Murrell on 7.
Ben Kaye took the Hitman award sponsored by Halifax RLFC Players Ass. He is playing some of the best rugby both in attack and defence since he joined us.
In Club 1873 Leo Edwards number 27 was first out of the bag and gets the £25 voucher with the £20 voucher going to Peter Clayton number 57.
The half time draw winning number was 0161 for £221.
Next up is Batley next Sunday at the Shay 3.00pm. We need to keep the momentum going as we cannot afford any slip ups now we have got ourselves in such a position.
