Read a similar article this morning where Koukash claims to be 100% certain that the SL will govern itself shortly.What then for promotion/relegation ? pity we're not good enough to go up this season,may well be last chance....

Mr Hall , I wouldn't read to much into Marwans claims,he gets these ideas and then is advised by his Learned Friends ,what acts of folly they are , I don't think he would get the backing he thinks he would off the other SL Chairmen,it could happen ,but I wouldn't worry just yet.

I hope you're right but super league chairmen are greedy/self obsessed barstewards...can't see them opposing him here.

I agree with some of what Marwan says but the last thing we want is an even more closed shop. The RFL has done some innovative things but it's also been seen by most as wasting big opportunities to grow the game.
We must, I guess, stick with the RFL but they need to change and be more inclusive of the clubs, SL or not.

Big Nige needs to share the top table buffet.

Again Norman I agree with you , Marwan will always have some good points to put forward, but he isn't as popular as he thinks with some of the SL Chairman, or officials at the RFL,I'm not to worried,and the RFL have been around a lot longer than Marwan.

Some SL clubs and their chairman have openly stated they are the Flag ship of rugby league in this country and as such should have more say in what happens to the game.
That might sound fair enough but their decisions will impact on the whole of rugby league not just SL.

That being the case the game needs a governing body that can lead the game without being biased just towards self interest especially concerning distribution of funds which by and large that's what this "more say in the game" means for some SL clubs, they want more and sod those that will get less as a result.

You are right what you say , but I think RL would become so boring and stifled if it was a closed shop ,and I think some SL Chairmen realise this,maybe some laws do need adjusting but you can't just say to h#ll with the RFL just because things don't suit,which is another reason why I don't think Marwan will get much joy here,he thinks his cash can buy anything , well I think not.

Australia is a "closed shop" at top table and I would suspect that a number of SL clubs would like that's approach as it secures their position and funding....back to the founding debates on SL. We have promotion/relegation in name only now, in reality it will only happen if a SL club Inplodes or some real cash is spent in the second division.

Whilst I am sure his motivation is linked in some way to the salary cap debate I also think he may have more support for the idea, if not for him, than is obvious.

The tail cannot wag the dog, we tried the Franchise system and did away with promotion and relegation, but found it boring and fans wanted P and R brought back,at the moment the middle 8s is the only hope we as Championship Clubs have to get into SL , and even that is a long shot, at the moment my club Leigh are top of the League but I feel the bottom 4 Clubs in SL would beat us with ease.

Marwan is only concerned about Salford or if you like Marwan,he came into RL expecting great things but the RFL have in his opinion stopped him from achieving his dream,he is a bitter man towards the RFL and is looking for allies to support him,I agree most SL Chairmen are only concerned about their own Club,but I think common sense will prevail and I can't see a revolution happening,where the SL Clubs reject the RFL, there is cause for concern , but I can't see Marwan getting his way.
