Re: Ian Croad : Fri Apr 19, 2019 1:31 pm
Never really seen eye to eye with Ian but have to take my hat off and welcome him back, purely for taking the contract negotiations from Marshall, who pretty much thinks the club is his to run as he sees fit. When you consider the increases some players have attained through their pal, the quality of the majority of his signings etc it's no wonder someone has stepped in, it's a shambles right now. Id certainly be keeping him away from any contract negotiations as he wont be here next year and personally I'd put him on gardening leave for the remainder of this season, giving the new coach a chance to communicate their requirements before they step in. The current BOD are ineffective and out of their depth bringing very little to the club other than disarray and zero commercial funds...

Here's hoping Ian can restore some common sense and for that I'm chuffed hes back....

I thought that the club was finally going to get its act in gear with Mark Moore. He certainly wasnt everyones cup of tea with his management style but at least he steered the ship. We now have an anonymous management style and just feel to be drifting in any direction with no destination. I was hoping for an injection of new blood rather than venturing along previous paths that have failed. The last couple of games have however provided a ray of hope so lets hope the team can show everyone the way forward. For me its foot on the ball time ,look about, assess and take care on key decisions that affect the clubs future.

Mark Moore was a strong character who you either liked or didn't but he certainly got the club moving in the right direction. Another year under his charge may well have solved some of the structural (no playing) problems. The present BOD are simply not up to it.

Ian will have a tough job, a squad that needs to be rebuilt, a coach who needs to be replaced and a budget considerably less than this seasons. I hope he is up to it because we can forget this year now, next year is going to be pivatol in our history.

Time for people who can help to step up then?? Instead of squabbling and not picking.... This season isnt gone yet but something needs doing now and you guys on the old Exec Committee really need to stand up and be counted and try rally around and do something positive.... This BOD are out of their depth, absolutely and I've said it for a long time... commercially they've crippled the club... So time for change.

Chris Smith, I feel again there's a lot assertion and perception in what you are saying. What do you think are the commercial opportunities that we aren't seizing upon? Genuine question im asking, no agenda or needle.

No assertion at all... As a potential sponsor and knowing several sponsors, I get tokd certain things. Ultimately the commercial side is way off where it needs to be and very little being done to eradicate this, although I expect Ian's return is in some way to do with this. He is a shareholder and I'm sure wants the club back on an even keel. As it stands now due to the lack of anyone delivering any commercial activity the club is facing a severe financial black hole with the budgets based around certain attendances too, which in the main have also not been met. A prime early example was Simon Grix only had his player sponsorship sold the Weds prior to the season starting. The season before was completely sold out weeks in advance. The club asked someone to help out and this individual sold it within 2 hours.....Dining not being sold, game sponsorship not being sold....Lots of things not been done great right now....

Re: Ian Croad : Tue Apr 23, 2019 3:51 pm
Ian is a shareholder, and like many of the directors before him took shares instead of getting all his money back! Although I understand he still gets, and will for years ahead, a free box/hospitality as part of the setoff against past debts. I believe his re-emergence is because there is some disputed debt still.

However he is the only active shareholder involved with running the club and I’m not sure that’s a good thing. Michael Steele has most shares and has now stepped back, Tony Abbot still has shares and gets a free box and hospitality too as part of an old setoff, agreed by Croad a few years ago.

Laurence Turner is a brilliant sponsor, perhaps our largest over recent time, he has shares but these were mainly gifted to him when Howard Posner moved away from Yorkshire.

All this means that in reality control of the club is outside of the Bod’s hands and they can easily be removed.....but who on earth would now invest and replace them....not me!
